Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Turn off hot water

Hi. I have a shower pump that died, ordered an identical replacement and swapped it out by using isolation valves in flexible pipes. The problem is the old pipes are not laid out well and one of the flex pipes has a bad bend and there is no way to turn off the hot water between the flexible pipes and the tank. There is a valve to turn the water off that enterers the hot water tank. My question is if I turn the water off before the tank will I have to drain the whole tank or will it create a vacuum that will keep the water from running out the pipe.
    Thank you.

Whenever you turn off the hot water you will need to run a hot tap to take away the pressure. Usually the hot tap will run dry after 30 seconds or so. Put a few towels on the floor below the fitting you want to open just in case.

Once you turn off the valve & run the hot tap all should be good. You definitely won't be draining the hot water cylinder.

Don't go nuts shutting the valve extra tight. The cheaper valves can break it the closed position.
