Some people overeat. Surely eating what they liked and loving food is what got them in this mess to begin with.

There are tricks you can employ to satiate your hunger (mental or otherwise) and still not gain weight.

By all means eat what you like, that's your prerogative. I on the other hand will look for alternatives to calorie dense food where possible. But that's me.

To take your approach, eat what you like.
But if you feel peckish eat those noodles in a bit of chilly & garlic oil with some veg :D I am not telling people what to do just presenting alternatives that might be more ahem...palatable.

By all means look for alternatives. No issue with that. But it's not a binary decision of food you like that got you overweight in the first place or joyless, functional food that provides fuel but is a chore to eat.

And look, I'm not criticising your approach as such because I don't think its necessarily a million miles from the mark.

People can still have food they like but manage it better and be better in terms of both food quality and food quantity. It needs to be a sustainable change and no one wants to think that to manage their weight they have to eat food that's 'not great' for the foreseeable. But there are lots of ways to skin a cat and still like what you eat.

As someone who has tried every flavour of weight loss strategy. I have started the operation food plan. Was down about 8 pounds in week 1 in the middle of week 2 now. I find it really good so far and see it as a great structure. Trying to keep to 10k steps a day and zero booze. Has anyone progressed with the plan in the longer term?

    1st September 2020- 103.3kg
    27th November 2020- 93.6kg

Tracking food on MFP. Letting myself go a bit at weekends but trying to not go crazy. I've been running like a mad eejit. In August I was having to run for two minutes, walk for one minute and and so on. Last night myself and a running buddy did a 10k in 1hr 5mins.
Sore today but delighted with myself. I've run 105k over the course of this lockdown.

Still great progress overall so don't beat yourself up over it. It's definitely difficult to keep focussed though once you hit a goal - I hit sub 200lbs end October (from 302) and must admit I'm struggling to keep 'in the zone' last few weeks. Just treading water really - up several pounds at the weekend, knock it off then fasting during the week. Still at 199lbs but fully expect to stick on a stone at Christmas - had hoped to get down to 185 before then!

It can get very simple for want of a better word when aiming for a goal and when you are on track. The months and years afterwards are likely harder really ......... I went from 106kg to 79kg easily enough. 79kg was too light for me so settled on 83/84kg being about right for me when not aiming for a fastish 5k or anything.

With gyms closed over Covid etc I didn't train much if anything so the maintenance cals went from 3000 to 2700 and I was about 87kg in Feb ........ up to 90kg now but I counted calories daily so the extra weight on the scales tied in with what I was eating and the reduced activity.

Back to training 4 times/week now with calories at 2500/day so should be back to 84kg by end of February. I'd not aim for more than a lb/week loss now, largely because all the clothes I bought when I was 80kg still fit etc and I won't be at a beach for quite a few months.

Definitely - I've always expected maintaining to be harder than the main weight loss itself.....it sure is harder to say no to whatever treat is on offer when you're at a 'normal' weight.

    Week 12 : 134.4kg (-10.6kg)
    Week 13 : 132.9kg (-12.1kg)

Had a wobble week at week 11 and I know why and how it happened, but back on track with 2 good weeks and now over 12 kilos down.

I started off in 44 waist jeans and this morning I got a pair of 40 to close on me (I wouldn't be able to wear them yet, but to get them closed is good) so will truck on in 42 for now.

I wasn't able to go out on the bike much the last while either, but went out today and bossed 12kms up and down pretty steep hills, I can feel that I'm way fitter than I have been in years.

A few extra mince pies and quality street are to be expected over the next while and I'm not going to deny myself all the time, so that is what it is, if I can maintain around the low to mid 130s until the new year and then go properly at it again, I'll set myself a goal for Paddy's day and work toward it.

It took me a lot of work but here it is:

    1st Oct 2020- 115.5kg
    29th Dec 2020- 91.9kg

My lowest was 90.4 but Christmas has had an impact on it.
My goal is 75 kg by the summer. For me more than a diet it's just exercise, exercise, exercise. I must say I also feel much better physically and mentally. :)

quietly pleased that I've "only" gone up 1.5kg over the last 3 weeks, and looking at my pattern I should be quickly able to get back down below my previous lowest with a bit of effort and then keep going from there.

There's about 10 or 11 weeks until Paddy's Day so that's my next big milestone (with a few smaller ones along the way, like going under 130)

Happy new year to everyone on this thread, it's great motivation seeing everyone who's done so well!

    January 9th 18st 4 lbs (-34 lbs overall) (+6lbs over the holidays)

Since being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes the weight loss has been good. The last 4 weeks I've been using a blood glucose monitor just to see what the trends are, what effects my blood glucose levels etc.
The one lesson so far is the bloody whole thing is complex. Certainly over the break when there was no routine it was impossible to keep at an acceptable level. Since I got back to work it's better, it's easier to see patterns etc.
This coming week I'll be able to test a few different patterns and see how they work.

I've been like a human hoover over the past few months really, don't know why I haven't faced up to it before now! I'm going cold turkey on the sweets and crisps and all the stuff left over from Christmas. I weighed myself the other day and lets just say I wasn't surprised at what I saw but it wasn't nice to see either! I'm finding it very difficult the last few years to stay on the wagon when it comes to healthy eating. I've started off well today anyway....let's hope I can keep it going :D

After been sick with no real appetite for 6 weeks at the start of November I have piled on the weight since regaining my health and appetite. This is wild. Back on it today.
