Update: test drove car today and am almost convinced I'll be an ioniq owner by Tuesday depending on bank loan coming in in the morning
Owner offering deal I can't refuse. Hope I don't regret going fully EV

    Congrats!

Like how you'd traditionally hassle a full tank of fuel, is the seller throwing in a fully charged battery? Wooo, €2!

If that's the grant for the home charger it took 2 months for me.

It took 2 weeks for me last year. I don't know what the current delay is.

They said up to ten working days so it's been a week now, fingers crossed early next week at the latest.

I assume once that's done it's a pretty quick process to get the keys into my hands?

The same day for me. The dealer has to register it online and make up the plates. That doesn't take long. As soon as the grant was approved I headed to Dublin from Wexford. The car was charged and ready to go when I arrived.

What would ye expect to pay for a 181 ioniq non white? Privately

It sure is 181 black ioniq 30000km on clock. Over the moon with it can wait to explore it more when I get home from holidays next week. In the mean time I have 400 odd pages of a ioniq forum to read

That's a great deal you got. I think I saw that one on done deal.

    Yes, of course!

I'm the last person to spend money modifying the looks of cars normally, but for very little money you can take the one nasty / ugly aspect of Ioniq away. No brainer :)

Considering a carbon fiber wrap on front and rear grill and maybe some tinter windows?? Who got their white ioniq to look like it had panoramic roof with tinted windows and wraps?

Considering the white 2017 one in Kearys with 30k km on the clock going for 24k it's a bargain! Well done OffalyMedic!

I think the black one is just about the only one that gets away with the grey grill, though I've not seen what it looks like with the grill wrapped either.

Wow. Looks much better in the latter 2 photos. And I was previously opposed to wrapping for phantom black ones.

Looks nice alright but as someone who details their car as often as permissible I just couldn't live with a black car

Absolutely gorgeous. That's my decision made. Why did u decide to leave fitting around fog lights grey? What did u do with the back bumper if anything? And where did you get it done ? Thanks

Makes even more of a difference on a Phantom Black than on any other colour, contrary to what some people tell ya :D

    Well wear :)

How does vinyl wrapping do with power washing etc? Is it something you need to get re-done every now and then? Ioniq looks fantastic in the black with the grill wrapped.

Was ambivalent about the front DRL area as had seen one wrapped there previously. There is a little grey above the front sill (with copper accent) & the grey DRL area kind of matches/accents it. It saved some time, a few euros & I'm happy with the result, but I wouldn't mind it either way.

Left the rear bumper, it looks OK on the black IMO.

Got it done in Limerick here & happy to recommend Gary/Alex & his team.

If you're getting a white Ioniq and you're a good bit younger than me, you'd nearly want to do the whole roof as well as the back in glossy black though. And a window taint :)

5 days in and still in love, grant letter for charger came in post yesterday so that's my next step. Have read the whole home charge point thread but looking for some advice.

Going to be a long run I would think. Meter and fuse box are at back door cable will have to be run though attic and out at front door where we park (15-20m) rough guess.

I work shift work so car will be charged both during the day and night depending so also trying to add up pro/con of night rate meter. (Washing machine, dishwasher, dryer etc are often run during day time when I'm off so need to see if practical to time them for night rate)

Current house is a small cottage renovation that we don't plan on staying in for more than 5-7years or so, therefore future proofing, Solar PV etc arnt really relevant

We do have an electric shower which again can be on at any time of day (before work in morning and night, after farm work in middle of day, after sport etc) so I understand we need a charger with load balancing or a priority switch.

So from what I can see maths need to be done on night rate meter but in relation to charge point we have a few options:

    1. Get a zappi for it's load balancing and install by local SAFE electric looking at 250+grant is
    2. GARO also seem to have load balancing but not as widly available and more expensive
    3. Get a standard charger like rolec and priority switch. Probably similar to option 1 cost wise
    4. Not in huge hurry as granny cable working fine at present so maybe keep eye out for 2nd hand unit and keep cost closer to grant money
    5. Look into electric ireland offer of 149+grant. Not sure if they will do all the ground work that will be needed

Also I'd rather local electrician cause we have a few other outside electric bit needed like outdoor socket, spotlights etc so hoping by doing all together will save a small bit on labour vat etc.

Which option would ye go for?

    Thanks

I've no experience, but from reading the charger thread, I didn't get the impression a Zappi would be ~€850. I could easily be wrong.
If the Zappi vs Rolec (+priority switch) are a similar price, i'd assume zappi is the better choice? Load balancing, from what I understand you could still charge your car even while using the shower (just not a full whack).

AFAIK, the Electric Ireland deal is a 16A charger with a smaller RCBO. Doesn't the Ioniq charge using 32A if it's available? If so, this route would give you a slower "fast" charge than you could get for very similar money.

As for day/night rate. The Standing order is the biggest charge difference. It's around 50 quid more for a night rate meter per year, but night meter rates are usually about 50% the cost of day rates. Day rates go up a small bit, but usually not by much more than a cent or 2. Considering your daily driving distance, i'd say a night rate meter is going to save you, but do the maths. Regarding washing machines, dryers, dishwashers etc, do any of them have a delay function so they start their cycle at night time?

Since you see the house as a short term place for you to live I’d get prices for each option and take the one that is within the €600 grant amount.

Zappi is around 580i think and hoping 250-300 for install would be all?
