Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Opel Insignia issue

Hi all - hopefully the collective knowledge of boards can help me

Own a 2010 Opel Insignia. Been a pretty much hassle free ownership since buying it but lately I've had an issue. This warning light has appeared (Cant post an Image as I'm a new user but it's a yellow "emissions warning light" according to my logbook)

The symptom is that since it happened car is starting to lose revs/acceleration. Also as it accelerates the engine is making a noise, pardon the layman's description, its like the lid of a teapot rattling when the car is accelerating

Brought it to a local garage who diagnosed a few faults and changed the airflow sensor. However this didn't work. A few people I work with have also suggested airflow issues due to the symptoms described

Is this the type of thing a good independent could diagnose or should I bring it to Opel (which would obviously be more costly)? If you reckon an independent might do the job I'd be delighted with some recommendations in the Dublin 3/9/11 area

    Thanks in advance

Opel may charge more but to be honest they are more likely to get it right first time based on previous events. You've already had it at one independent garage who's spent your money replacing sensors that havn't worked and that's a costly exercise too, spunking parts at it. It might be better to pay a little more to try and get a first time fix.

Can recommend a good independent in that area unfortunately but someone local might.

I got that light recently on a 14 Mokka and it was for EGR valve fault. Loss of pwter due to limp home mode at 2000rpm. Didn’t have the noise, as far as I can make out. Replaced for €313 by local Opel dealer.
