Saw the following news report today

    https://connachttribune.ie/battle-underway-to-save-connemara-trout-from-invasive-species-777/

As someone who enjoys all aspects of our sport, game, coarse and sea, I found the following comment from Oughterard Anglers and Boatmen Association particularly offensive

"The problem is that coarse fishermen have no respect for trout fishing. They don’t care about trout fishing. They couldn’t care less if all lakes were mixed. But we have the best trout fishing in the world and there are already a lot of coarse fishing lakes in England and mainland Europe. We need to protect trout fishing in Galway,” said Mr Donnellan."

There's a lot of salmonid only fisheries in England and mainland Europe as well and they are dong quite nicely too even though they are surrounded by other fisheries that are open species. Can't we have both over here as well?

Yes, by all means protect the likes of the Corrib, Inagh, Mask and Erriff but why not open a few other lakes to all species... surely this can only be good for the sport?

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

The Oughterard lads are great for creating propaganda, and that's about it. Have a look at their Facebook page, its full of lies. They ban anybody that comments on their page, pointing out their lies.
