^^^ Did you really have to embed high quality pics in the thread? :(

You could have linked to imgur library instead?

Are you still on 56k or something? Who cares these days?

Limited 02 Mobile Broadband, but you shouldn't be forcing download content of 15 images on people. Not everyone needs to see your photos, the person you respond to could check imgur if so inclined?

I dont buy notches, cant even look at them and wanted to try a big phone so it was an easy choice for me. Do you read comics or books on your phone? I do all day at work sometimes and the Max 3 is insanely good for that, same for browsing websites aswell obviously. I dont use my phone much at the weekend so Im still on 65% after unplugging from my pc at work on Friday afternoon, wont bother charging it tonight either, it'll do until tomorrow evening, its ridiculous. Pocofone is faster but I try most AAA games that get released for Android and the MM3 loads them instantly, nothing bothers it, all emulators working flawlessly up to PSOne aswell, phone doesnt even get warm or seem to use extra battery. So many nice touches to MIUI but you'll probably get them on POCO aswell.

It really comes down to screen size choice, its a big phone obviously, get a sheet of cardboard and draw a rectangle 176.2 x 87.4 x 8 mm (6.94 x 3.44 x 0.31 in) and hold it in your hand and you'll be a bit shocked, then again after a week you wont even notice.

Its a good problem to have, anyone who buys a POCO F1 or MM3 seems to end up happy with it.

    Great camera aswell btw:

I'm currently using the mi max 2 so used to the size and really enjoy having a screen this size. My only gripe with it is the poor camera performance. Thanks so much for that response.

    Dear Mi Fans

As much as I would like to, I regret to inform everyone that Redmi Note 7 Pro will NOT have the official international version releasing to countries other than China and India due to our product strategy.

Nonetheless, our newly released Redmi Note 7 starting from 4999THB or 7990PHP is the best value for money smartphone with 48MP camera in the market. We welcome everyone to test and tryout. We will be bringing more exciting new products with best value to you soon. Stay with us for more updates.
    #48MPforEveryone

Disappointing news from the regional director of Xiaomi confirming there will be no global version of the Note 7 Pro :(

Disappointing that it won't be released, but makes up my mind to pull the trigger on Mi Max 3. Real disappointing thing is that it's not available for €225 anymore!

Bray to Greystones cliff walk, those are some pics I had lying around Imgur after the huge fires last year.

For anyone who picked it up from Amazon.es - was that directly from Amazon? Or a 3rd party?

Loving the Redmi Note 7 so far.

Battery is amazing to what I was used to on an iPhone. Going to bed at night and still on 50% with heavy enough use through the day.

I've installed the Nova launcher Prime and a few tweaks.

Notifications were an issue at the start but since have used TeslaUnread in conjunction with Nova for notification count to appear beside app.

Front camera not as good as iPhone but that doesn't worry me and havn't really tested the rear camera so can't comment.

For €229 delivered, great value for money.

Finally decided on a umidigi f1 play.. Goes on presale on aliexpress in a few days for $199.

Specs are great and reviews of the f1 are decent. New 48MP camera and additional RAM on the newer version so I'll go for that..

Any recommendations for a phone around 200-250? Preferably on the lower end

Not that pushed on 4G, once the battery is middling its grand, need a headphone jack and not by Xiaomi, 5" screen

See the Umidigi and the Poco F1 mentioned a few times but i don't think the Poco suits me, I'm hoping I'll be able to stay away from GApps for the first time on a phone too, exciting stuff

Poco is a Xiaomi brand so that might have some traits that wouldn't fit you.
What about Nokia 7.1 or Nokia 8, Honor Play ?

Screen sizes are growing but device sizes are still in around the same.

Stay away from Poco then so, yeah the Nokia 8 is popping up everywhere I look, seems to be a good bet, the Nubia Z17 series looks unreal but the batteries all seem crap

Probably the Nokias or a ZTE going by Kimovil, I might have to push the budget up a bit.

These things move so bloody fast, when I bought my last phone AnTuTus of 130,000+ were top dog, now there's midrange stuff well over 200,000 :O Battery sizes still at 3000mAh of course

*edit* What sort of a resolution is 1080 * 2244 altogether

Why not Xiaomi? Nothing wrong with their stuff these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

What do ya mean these days, its the Xiaomi of the Mi2/Mi3 era I'd have supported, after they dropped the MiPad like a hot **** and started pricking about with unlocking their bootloaders I said I wasn't going to buy their products. They've a few other things like firing ads through the MiTV that I don't like

I'd throw Oukitel and THL in the mix there too.

Have you much experience with THL pixie? Had one a few years ago, I think it was THL T4? There was a wee rubber seal that melted and stopped your camera working if the phone got warm, if they're normally reliable I could be convinced, the Knight 1 looks alright for the money

Had a look there and I think it's the width was throwing me, the X800 is 4mm wider than herselves Mi5S and the Mi5S feels way smaller in the paw, so the 5.5" screen is back on!

Anyone get their redmi note 7 fast charging?

Got a 3 pin fast charge adapater to give out the 2amps required but after 30 seconds spots charging.

Won't fast charge also through a travel 2 pin to 3 pin adapter or if go directly into socket with 2 pin.

Mine is fast charging fine using a Samsung 2A adapter.

I tried one of them and charging failed after a couple of seconds as was fast charging. A Samsung fast charger, output 2.0A Adaptive Fast Charging.

Think I'm settled on the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, only dropped last May so its new enough and the main falling points seem to be camera and no gorilla glass. It seems pretty robust though, across a 15 minute video of someone taking into it with a stanley knife it did better than the M2.

XDA seems delighted with it and all the YouTube comments are rave too, plenty of community support and it seems fairly simple to change the screen.

Going with AliExpress as I prefer them, it's like €170 on BangGood which is decent

I'm in the same price range ~ €200 to €250 max and the best I can see (for what suits me) is the Nokia 8.
I saw it last week for less than 200 but will have to look again today.
    decent specs.

It was listed at €340 this morning! It'd be a great phone at around €200 alright, picked up the ASUS anyways
