Saw this pop up on Kickstarter.

Worlds smallest 4G Android 10 smartphone. Got one of the early bird backers for €139. Now 30 days to decide if I really want it

Lads I need to get a new phone for myself and one for my Mother so that she can use the HSE Covid App. Budget is €450.

I looked through the Thread here and also on the latest Gsmarena phone guide below https://m.gsmarena.com/smartphone_buyers_guide-review-2036.php

I have seen the Mi 9 Lite recommended on the thread but the Gsmarena guide recommends others in the range instead.

I have a shortlist of these phones. Prices were found using Hagglezon Amazon price comparison site and verified:

    Realme C3 3GB 64gb €118 on Amazon.es
    Realme 5 Pro 4GB 138gb €147 on Amazon.it
    Realme 6 8GB 128gb €234 on Amazon.de
    Redmi Note 9 Pro 6GB 128gb €249 on Amazon.es and .it
    Realme X2 8GB 128gb €289 on Amazon.it
    Xiaomi Mi 9T 6GB 64gb €289 on Amazon.es .it and .fr
    Xiaomi Mi 9SE 6GB 64gb €332 on Amazon.es
Motorola One Fusion plus (no price available)

I was thinking that I could get the Realme C3 for my Mother and one of the others for myself
    OR
get two Realme C3's and keep the cost down.

Do the other phones justify the price difference between them and the Realme C3?

Btw the Realme 6 got an outstanding review on the Gsmarena guide.

    Thanks for any advice.

I have just got the Realme 6 and it is an outstanding phone. Very fast for scrolling (90mhz). Not much bloatware. You could get two of these and you would still have change. I'm no techy but if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Where did you get it and what price was it?

Edwaybuy. €197.09. Free delivery. Strangely it's in the the clearance section, page 2. The 128 gb version is €14 more.

Thanks, seen it in the clearance section. Strange for a phone with great reviews.

    I'm debating between these.
    Realme 6
    Realme 5
    Realme C3

I've just been on the Realme site and the C3 seems a great budget phone. It's €150+ on Realme but it's only €119 on Amazon.es atm.

I've to say I really can't fault my Xiaomi Mi A3, it was <€200.

I read a review of it here
    https://m.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_a3-review-1964p6.php

It says the screen is only 730p for an Amoled and is good for gaming but not browsing. How do you find the screen?

Excellent. Then again, my previous one was a Galaxy S II, so anything was probably an improvement.

Edited to add: the keyboard annoys me a bit, I could download a different one but meh, the effort.

Also, just reading the review: I don't find the text on the screen pixellated at all.

Thanks, I think the reviewers are very techy which is good but they will find faults that everyday users wouldn't notice.

It's hard to separate most phones on the basics like Browsing, Social Media, YouTube etc which is what most people use them for. That's why I'm tempted to go for the Realme C3.

The only area I can see people being picky is about Camera Quality or things like NFC.

I'm mostly concerned with Battery and then a nice screen providing it doesn't drain the battery.

The Redmi Note 8T has a better screen and has NFC as well if thats important.

    https://www.edwaybuy.com/redmi-phones/redmi-note-8t.html

Got one for my wife and I and its a great little budget work horse. There was a voucher somewhere in the thread so it was ~ €140 i think.

If that voucher is still valid, then definitely go for that, op. :)

To be fair, I haven't tried many other phones, I can only tell you I'm very happy with this one, and I agree with this review (from the link you posted):

    Zavael
Its not true that the resolution is not sufficient. Its pretty clear and sharp enough to even read on it. Yes, fullHD would be better but not with such margin as it is described in this post and verdict. If anyone can get a try, you should take it in your own hands and see on your own that you will not notice any discomfort while using it. The best phone for the price and maybe superior to many pricier, too.

I find it takes excellent pictures, but like I said, that's just me.

Im going to.look for the Voucher but I presume it's out of date by now.

If anyone has any vouchers I would appreciate it as I have two phones to buy.

I'll return the favour when I can.
    Thanks

Btw has anyone checked if Edwaybuy Is actually an official Xiaomi outlet. I've dropped Xiaomi an email but I presume a response will take a while.

    This might help:

BTW, I don't use it so I'm not certain, but I don't think the MiA3 supports NFC.

Thanks very much, I found these vouchers posted in the Thread earlier
    https://en.techreviewer.de/edwaybuy-coupon/#cp-code-3

They seem great value but I think these reductions have already been applied to the quoted prices in Edwaybuy now. I'll check for sure later if thats the case.

    Edit;
I've just tried the Codes and they are not valid.

I'm not sure which way they distribute their sales, but the Xiaomi store UK isn't an official seller to Ireland, nor are any of their European stores.
All of the stores that sell here, do so by selling as a UK store (Argos, Currys etc.).
If the price difference is worth it (the B&M store and Amazon have excellent returns policy in themselves), go for it.
But most of the rest can't help you if you have an issue due to Xiaomi's crazy warranty/repair centres policies.
Many of the other Chinese phone manufacturers have European repair centres that you can send the phone directly to under warranty or not and get them repaired.

TL;DR - If looking for an official seller in Ireland, I don't know if they exist. But buying from Argos/Amazon/Currys etc. may be worth it for their own return policies if the price is worth it, and they often are, but they have limited models.
    A good example is

    An amazing price for this

I was more focused on whether Edwaybuy were genuine or not than Xiaomis returns policy but its something to consider.

Are you suggesting the Redmi Note 8 Pro?
Its on Amazon for less but the specs below say a 5000 battery but the Pro should have 4500.

Looking to buy the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro 8GB/256GB and best price I can find is €439.84 from eglobalcentral.eu but unfortunately it's out of stock. There doesn't appear to be a way to find out when they'll have it back in. Anyone any ideas where I might get this phone at a comparable price?

While it does say out of stock with Eglobal. Bear in mind for a lot of stuff with them they maintain its in stock and could take a few weeks should it appear to have been restocked and you order.

All, looking for something for the mother!
She currently has a Nokia 5.1 and it's a real POS, being honest :D

Thing is, most phones I'm aware of at the moment are pretty big!
She's not looking to go any bigger than the Nokia's 5.5" screen!

Any recommendations for new(ish) models that are in the 5.5" screen size?
4GB/64GB would be brilliant as a minimum too.

    Thanks a lot!

Remember that a big screen can be cumbersome for an older person but the larger screen is better for viewing especially if they have poor eyesight.

I'm going for the Realme c3 above for €117 for the Mother and Realme 5 for myself. The Realme 5 has the 4Gb/64gb specs you want but the screen is large.

    The Gsmarena guide https://m.gsmarena.com/best_compact_phones_buyers_guide-review-2029.php
recommends Sam Galaxy A41 and the Xiaomi 9 SE for Compact phones but they are €246 and €332 respectively.

Before I go ahead and order from Amazon is there any difference in delivery times or return policy between Amazon.es and Amazon.it etc.

I normally would buy from Amazon.uk if available and if prices were the same.

A couple of the phones I'm interested in are available on Amazon.uk but are €20+ dearer. Would it be worth signing up to Amszon prime and buying from Amaxon.uk?

Would the UK option be better considering p+p from Spain it Italy? Would they arrive quicker also?

No, sorry wasn't recommending it, just linking the price. That version on amazon is 64GB/6GB, whereas the version in Argos is 128GB/8GB.

You could also look out for the Realme 5 Pro, I am pretty sure it has dropped to less than €200 on amazon Spain, although OOS there at the minute.
I think it was listed at around €175 - €185 before it sold out. May come back in stock or drop in Germany etc.

I was considering it but decided on the Realme 5 for bigger battery.

Do I need to look out for Global Versions and EU versions on Amazon? I presume both will work here but the EU version is restricted to just EU area.

The 5 Pro would have a better camera, faster charge (20w vs 10w), SD712 vs SD665 etc..
I think it's also on edwaybuy for edwaybuy for a similar price as was on amazon Spain, and Realme are one of the companies that do allow you to return it to their EU warehouses for repair.
