Retula joins in, raven on shoulder for the bonus unless he's still huge, looking for traps, especially faint glyphs that might make bed time even further away.
For the nearest cluster of tombs, only the central sixth one has a trap at its door, a simple falling axe.

The cairn is a single room with a zombie bound into a grave struggling to get out. It holds a worn out axe. Various bits and bobs in the tomb come to about 10GP in total Vrakrash would guess.

Vrakrash ignores the zombie and moves on to the next cairn not explored or firebolted.

OOC: I'll refer to the Cairns with group as a number and within the group by letter, just to avoid confusion. Vrakrash entered 1B. F will be the central cairns.

Sarric blast a cairn with a fire bolt, hoping to find a quick way to spill its contents.
Sarrice blows open 1D, inside is a man perfectly preserved with a smile on his face, holding a beautiful necklace with a runic inscription on it.

Jeremy lands at 1F, the central cairn at which Retula detected the axe trap. The axe hangs above the entrance passage.

1C is a single room with two stone guardians standing on opposite sides of a cauldron holding gems.
The statues hold their swords up as he enters, but do not attack.

A skeleton lies behind them on a slab.

Iuric looks inside one of the unchecked cairns.

1E seems to have been raided long ago, two warriors lie within mostly decomposed.

1A contains a massive skull hung on the wall, like a sharks. Within the mouth lies a glass bottle holding a golden liquid.

"Hmm gold or is it yellow?" Iuric exits the cairn and calls out to the group "Any yellow in the cairns you have checked?"

Vrakrash's eyes light up at the sight of the gems.

He enters further into the cairn, hand on hip ready to draw his weapons.

Simple short swords are holstered about each warrior's waist.

"Why thank you, young man. When this plane collapses, I'll bind your soul last. And to something fun. "

Retula passes under the secured axe and surveys the central cairn.

Retula passes under the secured axe and surveys the central cairn.
The entrance room to the central cairn (1F) is adorned with some kind of hieroglyphics depicting the life of the person buried here. In each hieroglyphic their image is framed with a red line.
Seems they were some kind of leader of a builders guild, as it shows them at the head of group raising monuments for a king.

A door half way through the room leads East.

Retula calls out to the others while looking more closely at the red lines, see they're painted on or removable. Also to see if there's any clue about the king.
"Guys - I have a door. It could open a pathway... To adventure! Or .or... Or a Jewellers!"

The red lines are simply paint.

The king seems to be of a race Retula does not recognise, slightly taller than humans, a cranial ridge and lack of ears distinguishing them. The builder however is human.

Iuric follows Retula's call and heads for the room she's in. Once there he examines the image of the king for any clock like features.

The king does seem to have gears and spindles in his chariot in one of the images.

Retula checks the door for traps, markings, handles, push signs and any indication it's been opened recently

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,784 ✭✭✭Evade

"The Clockwork King, the last known wielder of Durandal. Could this be it?" Iuric says to no one in particular with clear excitement in his voice. He impatiently waits for Retula to finish examining the passage for traps before proceeding.

The door hasn't been open for a while, there is vegetative growth around the edges. No clear signs of traps.

The next Cairn is the central one, 1F, beyond that the first Cairn of the next cluster 2A.

Vrakrash looks for any way around the swords.

If not, he backs up and takes out his crossbow, loads and fires at one of the guardian's heads.

Sarric regroups on the central cairn, planning to leave the next cluster until after this cluster has been cleared.
