It looks like Carson wentz won't play on Sunday night against the Rams in LA. It's funny that last season he was injured against the Rams in LA and now he won't play because of back soreness.

Hopefully 2017 late season Foles makes an appearance.

Hopefully 2017 late season Foles makes an appearance.

Well the eagles might as well throw caution to the wind.

Apparently Wentz has been complaining of back soreness since October, medical staff don't see anything major, apparently got it checked outside of the medial team and has a fractured vertebrae, first things first fire the medical staff how can you mess this up that badly,

Apparently it's not a major injury (which sounds crazy) apparently a few months recovery time and it's ok again hopefully he is 100% for us for next season

The tweet from a radio guy in Philly that I read made it sound like the Eagles staff knew about the fracture but didn't tell the player. Is that not accurate then? Tweet is a few hours old now.

Either way they should all be replaced.

Best tweet of the season goes to the Chargers.

On TV this morning, Stephen A Smith made a fool of himself as you can see in the tweet below.

    https://twitter.com/DP_NFL/status/1073237342369013761?s=19

    And the Chargers response:

If the medical staff knew about it and left the starting QB of the franchise and future of the same franchise play for any length of time and didn't tell anyone including the player himself then Howie roseman should fire all of them before the owner gets to them. I actually hope it's not that as bad as it sounds hococop as that's bad on so many levels. So it was checked out by an outside medical staff and they picked it up ? Sweet Jesus and the orphans.

Ridiculous it's so important for HOF yet fan-voted, but that's old news. Anyways, a few notable omissions, none more so than Chris Jones. Joke he wasn't picked but that's the pro-bowl for ya.
Also think Rodgers and Brady are both very lucky to get selected. Thought Luck in particular was hard done by, and also felt Wilson should've been the 3rd choice for the NFC.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,834 ✭✭✭OOnegative

Leighton Vander Esch a glaring omission on the NFC roster, thought TJ Watt was worth a pick on the AFC but i’m probably being bias saying that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Ah the pro bowl rosters. The rosters that every player on a team in the playoffs will spend until January trying to not play in. I wonder how long it will take to get to the 20th alternate ?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 16,139 Mod ✭✭✭✭adrian522

Wilson should be QB2 on the NFC behind Brees by any measure. Rodgers and Brady both there on reputation only.

    Aren't most of the players?

Speaking from a Redskins fan's point of view, Trent Williams has been playing injured most of the year and as a result is having probably his worst season but he's made the team. No way that's based on this year's performances.

Melvin Gordon, when was the last time he played?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,642 ✭✭✭Deco99

Darius Leonard most glaring omission by a long shot. Melvin Gordon has been great but has missed 3 games which charter won all 3. Who picks this team?

Why do people still even bother to both talk about and debate selections for the Pro Bowl? It’s nothing more than a popularity contest. The biggest waste of time in all of sport.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,495 ✭✭✭✭Billy86

A young or breakout player (especially if not a high first round type) making the Pro Bowl is about the only time it's really of much note in terms of merit.

True but there are bonus based on it and despite what we think, it seems to affect HOF voting. Easier to make a case for an 8-time Pro Bowler.

Was worth a gamble for the Patriots but at this stage it is clear why other teams didn't compete for him, especially those teams with WR needs that also had coaches with experience with him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,915 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

He played pretty well for them all the same, for a very low pick. Pats can feel they got value on the deal, hopefully he can get the help he needs.

Ravens are going to extend Harbaugh. Surprised at that before the playoff picture emerges. It would make a lot more sense to make a decision in a couple of weeks’ time.

Delighted we're keeping him. Didn't understand the talk of him losing his job earlier in the year, he's clearly one of the better coaches in the NFL and unless we were going to replace him with Lincoln Riley or someone similar we'd have been worse off. Like what he's doing with Lamar and our defense is consistently excellent.

Having said that we do need to start drafting better. We've had a number of bad picks over the last few years (Perriman the obvious example) while hitting on the mid round picks less often than before.

Said a few weeks ago that the only thing that could make this season worse for the Raiders is a couple of pointless wins to drop their draft positon.

That win last night takes them from #2 and a chance of #1 in the last week, down to #4.

With all the picks they've stockpiled you'd think they'll still be able to select a few decent players. Although Grudens scouting ability seems dubious these days.

Arizona have the first pick wrapped up by the looks of it. They go to Seattle in week 17, there's no chance of a win there imo.

Subtle reminder that the bears are in the playoffs. And if things go right for the eagles next weekend then the eagles might be playing the bears.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,915 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

I hope so. Bad memories of the last time we had to play a division rival in a playoff means I hope we put the Vikings away this weekend. However if the Rams already have the two seed put away during the early slate I'd expect to see lots of snaps for Chase Daniel.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 16,139 Mod ✭✭✭✭adrian522

Rams are playing late now so both games will be on at the same time.

Justin Herbert not declaring this year.
He is massively overrated imo. I fell into the trap early last year but then got yo see him under pressure a couple of times and he didn't look good or make good decisions.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,156 ✭✭✭✭Foxtrol

Justin Herbert not declaring this year.

Probably the best for if he is going to make it long term but it will likely cost him money in his rookie deal, as I don't think he'll go as high next year with the talent due to come out.

Presume Haskins will have to declare now and it'll be interesting to see if there is a bigger bidding war between the QB needy teams to move up for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,967 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

If Haskins comes out I think it'll create a bit of trading up in the draft. The first five teams at the present moment don't need a QB. You have the Bucs at 6, the Giants at 8, Jags at 9, Broncos at 12, Dolphins at 15 and the Redskins at 16 who will be the main players in the QB arena.

You'd think one of them has to jump into the top five and the higher the better to get Haskins. There are three premium players at the very top of the draft in Bosa, Oliver and Williams. The team that is in the best shape at the top of the draft in those positions is the Cardinals who have the first pick as things stand.

They need offensive line help badly and there is nobody worth taking at the top of the draft for that position. Well there is but you'd likely get him lower down when you look at the teams behind you. The 49ers will definitely go for Bosa, the Jets need a DT badly and the Raiders will surely be looking to replace Khalil Mack.

I see the Bucs and Giants getting into a battle for the no.1 pick as it suits the Cards to move to either spot. Besides QB the Bucs are all about defense in this draft imo.

I expect one of these two teams to end up with the no.1 pick and then the Cards take Jonah Wiliams at no. 5 or 6.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,151 ✭✭✭letowski

Reports coming out the Jags are voiding Leonard Fournette's contract. Pretty huge news considering he was that key piece they wanted to be a physical hard running offense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,434 ✭✭✭Jolly Red Giant

Rumours around the league that multiple teams are looking to trade for John Harbuagh. Rumours started with the Broncos, then the Dolphins and now the Bucs.

Baltimore are reputed to be asking for a minimum of two first round picks plus other picks for Harbaugh.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,644 ✭✭✭D9Male

Fournette was a waste of a pick.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,972 ✭✭✭mikemac2

Why do teams sack their head coach with an hour of the week 17 game ending? Sure if it’s a road game you may as well tell the guy to sort out his own flight

When the head coach is fired that means most of his assistants will go too.

I just think it can all wait for Black Monday after everyone is back in the facility. Everyone knows it coming and it doesn’t need to be done right after a game

  • Registered Users Posts: 301 ✭✭billr67

Can I jump in on that too, speculation instantly also starts around coordinators who are currently contracted to play off bound teams. Look at last season with the Patriots and Eagles both back rooms were filleted before the final had even taken place. Can't make preparation very easy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Wait what's this trade for John harbaugh reports about ? Didn't the Ravens put out a statement saying he'd be back next year ?
