Irish provenance Hawthorn

Looking for a Hawthorn bush for my back garden of Irish provenance, most can only be bought in bulk. Any suggested sources?

Do you mean you want a hawthorn that has been grown in Ireland? All you can do is ask them if their hawthorn is grown in Ireland or imported - the hawthorn is native to most of europe. Otherwise you could take cuttings from hedgerow hawthorns and grow your own.

or else just collect some seed from local hedgerows. given the summer we've been having, you might find ripe berries sooner than usual.

you can propagate from suckers that shoot up, probably find a few along the ditches if you look

There are also red flowered hawthorn trees available. e.g. linked garden centre ad. You would have to ask the garden centre where they were grown. Might be better to wait for winter months to get a bare rooted tree cheaper. Got some 60cm ones in March for 45cent each but probably would charge more at the nursery if you were only taking one. If you were going to grow your own from suckers they would probably be more likely to succeed if moved in winter.

None so hardy grow their own trees in Wicklow.
