    Feel sorry for Yates.

Some descending from the Alphilippe. I don't like him and his showboating.

And another club run for the main contenders #sake

I think he's great. He's some dude. Great to see a lad enjoying himself. Great style on the bike as well.

Ugh, don't let sky control the descent.

The loss of nibali, porte, their teams and assorted domestiques crashing vs 1 sky guy kicked out have made this even more of a procession. Hopefully tomorrow stirs up something different

Did Yates hand slip off the drops rather than wheel go from underneath him?

The front wheel had gone before his hand left the drops I think

Thhhhhhink it was the wheel - he felt it go and went to save himself.

Ouch, no chance of recovery when the front wheel moves out of line.

It's hard to be sure really, you'd hope the wheel went tbh.

Ah feck it - I just wish Sagan was better in the mountains, we might see some racing.

If you look at Gilbert there is something on the corner like a sheet of paper or metal at the kerb that i would say upset his line

Yates is on the pirelli tyres - think they are the only team on them

Did any of the gc guys even try to attack today? If so I missed it. Pretty disappointing stuff.

I wonder will he decide to try for a leaders jersey in one of the GTs as a challenge to himself. I see a lot of Sean Kelly in him as a rider and reckon he could do it on the right course.

    Yep. Worst mountain stage ever.

Demare makes the time cut despite being off the back on his own all day, some amount of shens keeping him in the race, be a tragedy if he wins in Paris!

I’ve just sent Sagan my foolproof weight loss plan and advice on sinusitis and asthma ‘treatment’....watch out Vuelta 2020

Did he make the cut or they let him off? I suspected maybe his team would claim pepper spray had a big impact

He came in on his own just inside the cut, he was over 20 minutes down before they hit the climbs, not sure how he only lost another 20 from thereon in, bet his arms got a good workout!

    Gilbert abandones

He couldn’t bend his knee and had to be helped in and out of the medical center and team bus

I can't help but feel if Dan wasn't following sky and chasing a top 10 finsh he and Alaphillpe would have had some great battles for stage wins and the mountain Jersey
