I recently went to Robbie Garage in Ballybane Industrial estate and found him very good and reasonably priced. Kilduffs in Nuns Island also seem to have a very good reputation.

Galway Car Service Centre won't fit customer parts (fair enough) and also won't take a car if you suggest that you know what the problem is, I've had them turn down two simple job recently because I told them exactly what I wanted done, that being said the one time they did a job for it it was fine and well priced, they upsell quite hard in there though so just be aware if you take it there
