Thinking of moving to yourselves for gas and electricity on a direct debit basis. The property currently has PAYG for both. Bord Gais have told me that they will charge €199 to replace the meter. Do you charge the same and how do your rates compare.

    Hi jos28,

Thank you for getting in touch.

There is charge when exchanging a Pay As You Go gas meter to a bill-pay meter. It is 198.53 euro.

The meter can't be deactivated and must be replaced by a Gas Networks Ireland technician. This is the reason for the charge.

Electric Ireland give a 175 euro switching bonus to new customers who switch online here

There is also a savings of up to 8.5% for dual fuel customers. This savings is conditional on direct debit and signing up to an Electric Ireland Online Billing account. This savings will be carried forward year on year as long as you are an Electric Ireland customer.

Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Thanks,
    Aoife
