I've been hearing good things about Sean O'Brien. Plays 7 but can also cover 6 and 8 if needed. He's meant to be very good at the breakdown and a devastating carrier. Anyone seen much of him?

I cried a little at that.

Can't we just take the Connacht one and make him good?

    Dark horse: Mick Kearney.

I have to say that I thought he had his best ever game for Leinster at the weekend. He may always need to play with first choice players around him to shine, but he did everything really well and tidied up a number of loose balls/messy rucks.

Nah, ye'd only break him too...

    We break, but we save.
But we only break to save.
And we save way more than we break.

Probably easier to just harvest whatever organs and body parts are needed to patch up the real Sean O'Brien.

I thought I was paraphrasing Dave Chapelle, what's the Matrix reference?

Would be great if one of Molony/Kearney/Nagle had a breakout season this year with the RWC looming, Nagle is a bit of a lost cause though.

4 week ban for Pierre Schoeman after his elbow to the head of Leavy. It was originally 6 weeks reduced to 4 for guilty plea and the players attitude through the process.

Makes an absolute farce of the 5 weeks Bastareaud got. I still can't believe World Rugby didn't step in over that.

I really don’t like the concept of world rugby « stepping in ». Nazi Germany or Stalins Russia is an example of power controlling the judiciary. It should be independent and impartial with an appeals process.

Surely power/interested parties controlling the judiciary is what has caused the Bastareud farce?

Bastareaud's ban was blindingly corrupt. I'm all for independence and procedure but the guy was guilty of assault, let alone a high tackle / elbow to the head. It was malicious, pre meditated and with intent. It was not during normal play and there was no hint of an accident. He also has plenty of priors.

That he is back just in time for the November series is a joke. If he didn't play again this season I wouldn't have balked at the sentence. French rugby administration is a disgrace and this is another in a long line of examples.

who appeals? Theres no equivalent of a DPP in these cases.

Theres a middle ground where the citing procedure is independent and impartial... but world rugby should be allowed to step in if they feel the sanction brought does not fit the offence.
Almost like a 'book of quantum' if you will.

Anybody know what the craic is with the supporters bus? I've been trying to get onto them.

Looks like we're getting a strong side for Connacht then.

Does Dooley being involved with the A's mean Jack McGrath is back or am I missing someone?

Strong team. I'd like to see the whole front row replaced during the game and see what the subs can give. Sheehan is a unit at 2 I'd like to see how he pans out as a player.

    So then something like:

    Healy Tracy Porter
    Molony Fardy
    Ruddock Doris SOB

    McGrath Byrne
    Tomane ROL
    Lowe Rob McFadden

Cronin, Byrne, Bent, Kearney, VDF, McCarthy, Reid, Larmour

If Tomane has worked on his defence that could be a really good side....

I'd be happy with that. A shame Leavy can't get a proper run out.

Tomane has looked ok in defence in his last two cameos. I think ROL's defending has to be questioned too, as there are similar issues when Reid is paired with him.

and very little issue when paired with a competent defender at 12.

Same can be said for Tomane when there is someone else at 13, going by the last two weeks.

Its been interesting the past few weeks reading the criticism (from certain quarters) of Tomane's defense. Its not something that he has been criticised for in the past as far as I'm aware. I believe in Super Rugby, the Top 14 and at test level he was always considered a solid defender. I think any problems he is having this season (if there is actually an issue) must be down to learning a new system and adapting to his team mates.
