26-07-2018 10:09pmGot 150mbps installed today but it is only running at 96mbps. Contacted eir tech support and went through everything with them. At the end of it they said it was my device was the problem. It could not run above 100mbps. Fair enough I thought so I went back to where I bought the 2 yr old laptop and the guy was amused. Said it was definitely not laptop. I was told at the time of purchase I was guaranteed 150mbps and as I ordered online I kept the screenshots of the conversation. So where do I stand now? Do I cancel or can I simply get what I ordered and am going to pay for.0

Is assume you're testing by Ethernet cable.
If it's a Windows machine click start, type Device Manager, in the window that opens expand Network Adapters.
Post here what devices are listed under Network Adapters. It sounds highly likely you have a 100Mb Ethernet port on the laptop.0 -

That's fair enough but in the list of network adapters which one is relevant to the Ethernet port?0 -

If you're struggling with Device Manager try this:
Right Click Network Icon on taskbar beside clock click Open Network and Internet Settings
Network Sharing Center
Connections
Click Ethernet to get Ethernet Status
Does speed say 100 Mbps or 1.0 Gbps
Photo Examples Below Wired Connections
100 Mbps Fast Ethernet Connection
Gigabit Ethernet Connection
If your device says Speed: 100.0 Mbps then it's nearly guaranteed that your laptop only has a 100Mb port. The only other options would be a faulty Ethernet cable or router which would be much less likely.0 -

Your laptop only has Fast Ethernet (FE) or 100Mb. You'll never see higher than what you are currently getting.
You might want to go back to where you purchased the device and tell the guy to be less amused and maybe have some clue of what he is selling.0 -
