Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Where to get BMW parts?

Asked before when the snow hit about this but long forgotten

2009 E60 I have and since the snow I did something silly

Which was open the boot with loads of snow on it.... Snow fell in and melted and ended up as water in the spare wheel well

As a result the PDC module got watered damaged

Thankfully only effecting the parking sensors

However it is annoying me having a flashing light and no sensors

Where would I buy a new or reconditioned PDC module ?

Looking around at breakers they seem difficult to get

Would eBay be a safe choice ? Or would there be a BMW OE parts specialist that would have them ?

I've tried motor factors, no joy, and BMW main dealer is over 330 plus vat so a bit steep

    Any help or recommendations appreciated

*Unfortunately repair not possible on the module I have

The module itself has to be coded to your car I think, also you need to get one from the same era. So the 2009 is the E60 LCI version, so make sure it’s from that if buying second hand.

Keep your eye on adverts and also on DoneDeal for breakers. They can be got for about €200.

Also, have you tried removing it and drying it out?

When it happened initially the dash was going mental reading all zero while driving and lights going on / off etc.

Took it out, dried it out and all that over night and put it back in and it's just the parking sensors that are not working. Being like that since the snow so no big issue but I do want to get it fixed.

I'm trying to look around adverts and that but seem hard to come by, like I say I've tried breakers too but very few about it seems.

Search on Facebook. CC automotive for example are BMW specialists. I have used will wheels but they can be hungry enough. There is also a BMW part/breaking Ireland group which you can post wanted ads to.

Sent cc auto a message on Facebook there asking. They seem to have gotten an E61 2009 in this month so hopefully that could be something !

Joining the part / breaking group , just waiting to be accepted will throw it up there what I'm looking for

    Thank you for those !

You could try Wyses garage, Clogheen, Co Tipperary. They have 100s of BMWs broke and would surely have one.

If you are unsure if a used module will work, borrowing a friends and trying it will eliminate the issue of it needing coding or not.
Traynors in Northern Ireland are good, and will post the part to your house, and give warranty. They should have one in stock.

I haven't had to replace mine on my E60, but if they are new for €300 in the stealers, I wouldn't pay more than €100 for a used one without warranty.

    That's over 300 plus the vat !

I tried tranoyers and they don't have one sadly.

Tried cc auto and they don't have, but one lad on Facebook got back to me for 100euro which seems to be the going rate

So what I'm hoping to do is meet up with the Chap, try it and see if it works. From asking they don't seem to need coding

Cheers for the help so far lads, seems to be a though one to get

Vlad in http://www.vitronix.ie/ got me out of a hole earlier this year with an intermittent fault on an LCM in an E92. He got a used replacement part from Eastern Europe which was an exact like for like match.

I've used 2 indy garages for my BMWs
    DL motors and Bloomfield.
Both very good and Bloomfield in particular sent me links to eBay sellers in germany to buy parts like your module and bring to them to fit.
So I'd be looking at eBay myself.

See the likes of this now

The part numbers on mine don't match up with the numbers on that

Is that not a big deal ?

That part, I do not know but I'd say make sure before you buy.
Or contact some of the eBay sellers or do a more in depth search

Sign up for BMW First and you can 20% off parts, first month is free and all https://www.bmw-first.ie/home

Thought I seen it written in their T&C that the 20% discount on parts through BMW First only covers parts fitted by the dealer, not parts bought at the counter and fitted elsewhere. Cannot find it on their site now.

When I'm looking for an OE part or manufacturers using OE numbers I use my VIN on BMWFans.info and go to the required section, get the part number and typically go on ebay and type in "BMW (insert Part number)" and you'll have plenty of options.

Did this recently for my car. The rear active dynamic stabilizer bar was leaking and the price I was quoted was €1800 new or €1500 second hand, both excluding fitting.

Looked on bmwfans.info and found the part number, checked ebay amazon etc and the price was similar. However, on bmwfans.info there was a second older number that was crossed out. I rang Keary's in Cork and they confirmed that the older number was what was probably fitted on the car and it would work too.

Managed to buy that part on ebay from California, ship it and pay import duties for €200. Clondrinagh in Limerick fitted it for another €200 so managed to save at least €1300 by using the website and thanks to Keary's in Cork for confirming the part would work.

I was in Limerick a few times the last couple of weeks..... In eh, company vehicles !

But I will indeed the next time I venture down !

Thanks again for the suggestions, great help and quickly sorted , and the lads seem sound with plenty of parts floating around !

Dunno why you didn't try this. Literally a BMW only dismantlers. It's insane the amount of parts down there. Quite reasonable in terms of price too. I got a E46 Msport steering wheel in perfect condition for €50.
