Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

going for my theory test in 2 weeks for category D and then hoping to get my D1 licence. Can anyone help with regard to getting for the full D licence instead? Is it harder to obtain the D licence as opposed to settling for the D1? Heard the D1 is easier as it's minibuses.. Should I presevere and go for the full D licence instead??

Definitely do the full D. A D1 will only allow you to drive up to 16 seats and that will limit your employment opportunities. Even Mercedes Sprinter minibuses are usually 18 seat and higher now. If you want to do tour work which is the most lucrative work for a bus driver then you will need coach experience.

It will depend on what employment you expect to obtain by doing the licence but it's usually a no brainer.

Thanks for the reply is the D licence harder to get as its coach driving? Is learning to drive a coach hard for someone without any experience?

Obviously it's a little more difficult but the training schools are usually very good and the test can often be done in a mid size coach anyway.

The full d licence would allow you to apply to bus eireann also who are always looking for new drivers and pay better than the private sector.

Bus Eireann are currently recruiting and you only need a B Licence to apply

You need to have your D theory test completed and a D learner permit. Also a CPC and digital tachograph card.

....And do it in a manual bus. There are so many bus drivers out there with restricted D licences which restricts employment opportunities.
