Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I would be very surprised if people are assigned before this whole thing is over. To cover shortages they will reassign existing civil servants first and I would expect that to be cover what they need.

They have taken 600 staff from revenue and a huge number of the defence forces.

Pannel lasts two years from creation date

The competition started over two years ago, not the panel.

It started August 2018. It runs until August 20 afaik.

This is correct according to PAS

I realise the competition is currently suspended with no testing or interviews taking place.

However I have heard of two people being placed in departments through mobility and was wondering if those who have passed the interview stage are still being placed off the panel.

I received an email last week to say they had reached my number on the panel. I was assigned my department today, just waiting on a start date.
Still not too sure how long that will take or how it will play out with the current restrictions

May I ask when you had your interview?

I was assigned about two weeks ago but asked to stay in my dept, so will be there, but don't know where in the dept.

Jujubeans, roughly what number were you post-interview?

Has anyone else been assigned recently or gotten any indication where the panel is?

  • Registered Users Posts: 51 ✭✭Bazman33

I got on to PAS last week I got results of interview in March and was placed around the 130 mark after interview, they told me that about 50 people have been called of that batch so far...!

Sat the interview in Feb and just received an email offer for Education @ Skills in Blanch. The email said if I was not interested to do nothing, but if I accepted and then declined I would be off the panel.

It did not explicitly state that I would be off the panel if I did not respond. Thoughts and advice appreciated. In the meantime I have emailed them directly seeking clarification.

    Thanks in advance

It says if you are not interested in that particular position no action is required. It's a safe assumption that it means you are not interested and will remain in current placing until offered as normal! I wouldn't be worrying!

I received an offer of interest for the department's Blanch offices.

Any more news on this panel? I'm starting to worry that the difficulty of training people etc means there won't be any any progress for some time. There's probably a load of people assigned but waiting on start dates. And then once govt is formed the possibility of a recruitment freeze being introduced grows and the expiry of the panel in August gets closer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 308 ✭✭FenFlynn

I also received a letter saying that they've reached my position. I have to respond by tomorrow noon. I'm not sure whether to take it or not. Does anyone have any idea where the vacancies are? Or the recent ones where are most people placed?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Registered Users Posts: 308 ✭✭FenFlynn

Also, does anyone have any idea as to whether an interview would be held if a supervised test was done in February for interdepartmental stream? Would the deadline be extended due to covid19? Or would the panel be closed as scheduled this Autumn? Thanks!

  • Registered Users Posts: 132 ✭✭Aoibhin84

Where did they offer you? I would not worry about panel expiring as they appear to need staff badly especially in operational areas....

I was placed in the top 50s after stage 3 interview. I'm sure your position will be reached soon.

I don't know yet. Just confirmed to proceed, then I have to go through clearance, a department would only be confirmed after that.
I was asking the previous question on behalf of someone else in the interdepartmental stream waiting for an interview. I presume interviews are on hold at the moment due to restrictions.

Was this recently? Earlier this week they told me they were in the 50s. But perhaps there's people with the same OOM.

I’m going on my OOM number how much I’ve moved up the panel I’ve moved from the 120 approx number to 60 mark approx

For people saying they have been placed recently is that to start in the shortish term or are they offering you a position but waiting for lockdown restrictions to ease somewhat before you actually start?

I was given a start date before the lockdown kicked off but my first day was after the lockdown had been out in place. I did attend the office. My job is supporting front line staff so that might make the difference. Now I am in the office a bit but also work from home. Training is difficult with all the wfh and social distancing in the office when I do go in.

I will be working in some other section of the Department, although it has not happened yet. They've starting paying me my new salary after my appointment. There's plenty to do where I am.

When were you called off panel?

PAS told me during week there's only 15 people ahead of me. Hopefully I'll hear soon.

Does anyone know how long from when you start until you get your first pay?
I start on Monday and I'm not sure if I have to work a back week/fortnight etc.

Hi can I ask how long after clearance did you hear from your department? I've just finished clearance, waiting for HR from whichever department I'm assigned to contact me, but not sure how long that's going to take
I have to give 4 weeks notice for my current job as we.

Yes, off the open panel. I'm three years. I thought I was eligible for inter-departmental, but wasn't. It was little short of a two year process. You should hear soon.

Do you mind telling me your OOM number doesn’t have to be exact just a guide to see how the competition is moving...!

In regards to the Department of of agriculture, it all depends where your going to be based there has been lots of movement because of Brexit...! They have a big section down the port..

I think mine is around 50. I believe it's going to be the head office on Kildare Street I'll be going but not 100% sure. Waiting for HR to contact me.

Hi, looking for advice. I received an email in july 2019 from Pas regarding my online assessment for the 2018 EO comp. I did very well and my OOM in the 20s. I still havent been called for an interview and was told by Pas a few months ago the panel expires in sept 2020. Anyone in a similar position? Is there anyone being interviewed at the moment?

I did my online assessment in Jan 2019, had my interview in Feb 2020! I got an email with an offer on Monday. It’s a slow process!

Does anyone know once you’ve sent in the requested info for clearance is that seen as you’ve accepted the position?
They have requested some info for clearance but I’d like to know where the position will be located. If I pass clearance and it’s in an inconvenient location, can I still turn it down?

Yes, of course. If you are giving a department, HR from that department would contact you for a start date, you could either accept or turn it down. There is no obligation to take the job if it location doesn't suit.
