Henry is a top spoofer. When you make G Nev seem like a competetant manager it's some achievement in itself.

He can head back to Sky now he was probably on better money there than he was at Monaco.

Would Virgin Media Sport take Thierry Henry on :p

Apologies for adding nothing constructive to the thread, but bitter old me is delighted for Henry.
May he have plenty more like that in his future, the deceitful, slimy, smug conniving, sneaky, two faced, fork tongued b*******

Been just absolutely freaked watching the whole Sala story unfolding this week.

So much so that even Neymar going off injured in tears and Henry getting axed only raised a bit of a smile :pac: I didn't even noticed the cup draw was on yesterday evening til I saw it late last night. Toulouse at home in the last 8 if we get past Entente.

The fixture list is a total mess - it was bad enough being affected by the protests, now add in the Sala tragedy. Already had 3 games rearranged between just before Christmas and last weekend, and now another 3 in the next couple of weeks.

Big match tonight as Marseille host Lille. If Lille are to get Champions League football this is the type of game where they should be looking to get something, but they were spanked 5-1 in this fixture last season. A Marseille win puts them back in the mix for a place. Hope Lille can get a result.

Update: Pen to Lille just before Half-Time for Guztavo's rash tackle on Celik. Only a booking for Gustavo. I think he should be off as he was over the ball.

And Pepe scores from the spot. 1-0 Lille. He missed a pen last week against Amiens but he finishes well here. Half-Time now.

What a truly bonkers situation this has been.

Play suspended between Marseille and Lille after a firework is thrown on the pitch.

Thauvin given a straight red about ten minutes after the restart. He can't have any complaints. Stupid from him. Hope the crowd don't start off again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

This game is mad. Marseille are losing the plot. Radonjic just kicked Pepe's boot at him in shades of Fergie and Becks.

Now Balotelli is coming on for his Marseille debut. That should calm things down. :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

And Pepe scores a second to seal the win! 2-0.

Great counter from Lille. Balotelli went very close to equalising minutes before with a fierce low strike.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Balotelli scores on his debut! 2-1. Nice header but there's no time left as it's the last action of the game.

It ends 2-1. Really ill-tempered contest. One of the worst I've seen in a long time. And now some fans invading the pitch to try and get at the ref.

Lille will be delighted with that result. Huge 3 points that puts them 6 points clear of Lyon who have a game in hand. For Marseille, the gloom continues. I wonder if this is the last of Rudi Garcia as the atmosphere in the Velodrome is really sour.

Dijon vs Monaco is the evening game tomorrow on BT Sport from 7pm, featuring the return of Leonardo Jardim. Massive game for the relegation battle. Dijon are coming off a 6-3 win over Saint-Etienne in the cup.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Teams for Dijon vs Monaco in Jardim's first game back in charge: (Live on BT Sport Extra 2)
Dijon XI: Allain; Chafik, Lautoa, Yambere, Haddadi; Marie, Abeid; Kwon, Sliti, Said; Tavares.

Monaco XI: Subasic; Glik, Naldo, Badiashile; Sidibe, Tielemans, Fabregas, Ballo-Toure; Henrichs, Falcao, Rony Lopes.

Huge game with Dijon 18th and Monaco 19th. Depending on other results, Monaco could find themselves bottom tonight.

Nice to see Subasic back as Benaglio drops the bench. Jardim finally able to use Rony Lopes again who was injured when he was sacked.

Dijon are in good form and Sliti has quality. Kwon can cause problems too. Think this is a really tough one to call but because of the new manager bounce factor (or former manager in this case) I'll go for Monaco to edge it.

Other games tonight are Guingamp vs Reims, Nice vs Nimes and Strasbourg vs Bordeaux. A Guingamp win blows the relegation scrap wide open.

Update: Turns out it's not Jardim's first game back as he officially takes charge tomorrow. Henry's assistant Franck Passi will take charge of the game tonight. Maybe there won't be the new manager bounce tonight then!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Dijon are leading 1-0. Kwon Chang-hoon with his first league goal since returning from his awful injury last season. Pleased for him.

Dijon lead 1-0 at Half-Time. Doesn't look like Monaco will be bottom even if they lose as Guingamp are 1-0 down at home to Reims. Youcef Atal, arguably the best RB in the league, has given Nice the lead against Nimes. Strasbourg goalless against Bordeaux so at the moment Nice are 5th in the table. Henry's time was a disaster but things looking quite good for Vieira.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Oh my goodness, Naldo has been sent off for the second consecutive game.

30 minutes remaining for Monaco to get something with 10 men.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Sliti scores! 2-0 Dijon. Ballo-Toure loses the ball too easily to Tavares in the build up. Monaco in big trouble now. Hard to see a way back in this game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Full-Time and it ends 2-0 to Dijon. It should have been 3-0 as Keita was through on goal after a late counter but fired it wide. Dijon deserved the win. Their attack played well and keeper Allain made good stops. Monaco were below par once more and again caused their own downfall. Jardim who watched from the stands has a big job on his hands.

    Other results tonight:
    Guingamp 0-1 Reims
    Nice 2-0 Nimes
    Strasbourg 1-0 Bordeaux

Pleased to see Saint-Maximin join Atal on the scoresheet for Nice. It's Strasbourg that go fifth though rather than Vieira's side after Kenny Lala gets a stoppage time winner against Bordeaux. There's another player I think clubs abroad should have on their radar.

Terrible night for the league's two worst clubs Guingamp and Monaco. The funny thing is they're both playing each other in the Coupe de Ligue semi-final on Tuesday. That one will be Jardim's official first game back.

Ligue 1 televised games tomorrow on BT are Montpellier vs Caen, Amiens vs Lyon and the evening game of PSG vs Rennes. Not sure if PSG's new signing Leandro Paredes will be ready to feature yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Montpellier beat Caen 2-0 earlier. Felt sorry for Caen keeper Brice Samba. He made a super reflex save just before the first goal but Laborde was quickest to react and head in the rebound. The second goal was an O.G. from Baysse. Very unlucky.

Amiens vs Lyon has just kicked off. Moussa Dembele getting a rare start after his winner in the derby last week.

1-0 Lyon early in the second half. Denayer heads home a lovely cross from Depay. Amiens hanging on here.

Full-Time: It ends 1-0 which sees Lyon stay third, 4 points clear of Saint-Etienne and 3 points off Lille. Amiens remain 18th on 18 points, level with Caen and 3 points above Monaco. Lyon weren't at their best but were worthy winners; Gurtner kept Amiens in the contest with a string of good saves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Teams for PSG vs Rennes which is on BT Sport 1 from 8pm.
PSG XI: Buffon; Thiago Silva, Kimpembe, Kehrer; Dani Alves, Draxler, Marquinhos, Bernat; Di Maria, Mbappe, Cavani.

Rennes XI: Koubek; Traore, Da Silva, Gelin, Zeffane; Grenier, Andre; Sarr, Ben Arfa, Bourigeaud; Niang.

Ben Arfa makes his return to the Parc des Princes. Neymar missing for Paris after his injury in the cup. Keen to see how Sarr and Bourigeaud get on.

Would love an upset, especially if Ben Arfa is involved, but can't see it happening.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Damn. PSG take the lead as Cavani heads in Di Maria's precise cross. Lovely ball from Kimpembe to Di Maria in the build up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

1-1! Niang equalises from close range from Traore's cross. Looked like it might be offside but VAR confirms it's okay. Decent half hour this for Rennes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

I'm amazed Niang wasn't sent off for his tackle on Kehrer. Ref originally gave a yellow, VAR asked him to look at it - and it looks awful in slow motion. But the ref sticks by his original decision. Think Rennes got away with one there, big time.

2-1 PSG. Lovely dink over the keeper from Di Maria. It's been coming. Thirty minutes remaining.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

3-1 PSG. Mbappe scores to put the game to bed. Rennes sloppy at the back.

4-1 now. Mbappe puts it on the plate for Cavani to tap in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Full-Time and PSG win 4-1. The scoreline flatters Paris somewhat as Rennes had made a contest of the first hour or so. They gave bad goals away once they went 2-1 down. I thought Di Maria was very good and Neymar's absence wasn't felt.

In the other evening game, Toulouse and Angers ended goalless. Both sides had penalties saved.

The Coupe de Ligue semi-final between Guingamp and Monaco is on BT this Tuesday evening. That will be interesting on a lot of levels.

Interesting to see Josh Maja gone to Bordeaux from Sunderland. Will prob see more gametime than if he moved to the EPL

Team news for the Coupe de Ligue semi-final tonight between Guingamp and Monaco - Jardim's first game back in charge. (Live on BT Sport ESPN from 8pm).
Guingamp XI: Johnsson; Traore, Kerbrat, Eboa Eboa, Rebocho; Ndong, Phiri; Coco, Thuram, Blas; Mendy.

Monaco XI: Subasic; Jemerson, Glik, Badiashile; Ballo-Toure, Vainqueur, Fabregas, Henrichs; Gelson Martins, Rony Lopes, Golovin.

Johnsson back in goal for Guingamp after Caillard was poor at the weekend.

Gelson Martins makes his debut days after signing. Vainqueur making his first start since he arrived. Sidibe dropped to the bench after a bad showing against Dijon. Falcao is injured.

Is this the moment Monaco's season turns around? I hope it does. I'll go for a Monaco win. Do your thing, Leo.

OMG Vainqueur is sent off for Monaco on his first start!

It's ANOTHER red card for Monaco. Ref originally gave a yellow but VAR asked him to review it. I think it was worthy of a red.

Believe that's the third game in a row now Monaco have had a man sent off. Disaster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    RONY LOPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

    What a f*cking goal! 1-0 Monaco. Unbelievable.

    https://twitter.com/TazPhalora/status/1090349084836327424

This is looking a fun cup tie. Guingamp a goal down inside twenty minutes but have the man advantage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Golovin makes it 2-0! Terrific finish.

Monaco gone two up in quick succession since the sending off. Mad stuff.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,713 ✭✭✭dr.kenneth noisewater

Seems to be serious indiscipline at Monaco, so many red cards this season

    Is Naldo playing again???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Last team I remember with discipline this bad was Bastia, who ended up relegated. Need to sort out the stupid tackles pronto.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Wow what a start to the second half. Mendy immediately makes it 2-1. Game on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    THURAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMM

    What a hit! 2-2.

Great cup tie, this. Looks like the momentum is with the home side now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Penalties incoming so Gourvennec is doing a Van Gaal here and subbing keeper Johnsson for Caillard.

2-2 at Full-Time. Penalties are next.

Subasic needs to produce a performance like he did for Croatia at the World Cup.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Subasic saves from Eboa Eboa!

And now Caillard saves from Henrichs!

And Glik has his pen saved! Guingamp can win it with the next pen. It will be Marcus Thuram who scored the crucial pen to knock out PSG.

And Subasic saves! We go on!

What an emphatic pen from Sidibe. Pressure on Guingamp now but it's scored. We go on.

Monaco's Diop hits the crossbar! Guingamp can win it again...

And Coco wins it for Guingamp! The bottom side in Ligue 1 are in the final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Feel bad for Jardim that he didn't get a winning start but Guingamp were great in the second half and ultimately Monaco's ill discipline proved costly again. Gourvennec's decision to bring on keeper Caillard worked out in the end. I wonder what effect this will have on the two teams in the league. Can Monaco pick themselves up and focus on the positives? Will Guingamp be inspired to drag themselves out of the relegation zone?

We'll learn Guingamp's final opponents tomorrow as Strasbourg take on Bordeaux at 5:45 on BT Sport ESPN. Then at 8pm there's a Ligue 1 game as Nantes host Saint-Etienne in their first game since the Sala tragedy. That will be a hugely emotional occasion no doubt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Teams for Strasbourg vs Bordeaux in the League Cup semi-final which kicks off at 5:45:
Strasbourg XI: Kamara; Kone, Mitrovic, Martinez; Lala, Sissoko, Fofana, Thomasson, Caci; Mothiba, Ajorque.

Bordeaux XI: Costil; Sabaly, Kounde, Pablo, Poundje; Otavio, Plasil; Karamoh, Sankhare, Kalu; Briand.

Pleased to see Bingourou Kamara get a chance in goal in this competition again. He looks a great prospect. Lala's one of the best RWBs around right now and is worth a watch. Mothiba and Ajorque are a good strike combo too. Karamoh and Kalu can cause problems for Bordeaux and Briand is dangerous on his day.

Could be a good cup tie, though hard to match last night's one for drama. Hope Strasbourg go through as they've had a super season. Whoever wins will be the favourite to beat Guingamp in the final so it's a big match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

1-0 Bordeaux. After giving Kamara the big build up he then commits an awful howler at Karamoh's corner and spills it. Sankhare fires home. Keeper totally at fault there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

1-1 early into the second half. Lala puts a dangerous cross in and Ajorque finishes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

2-1 Strasbourg! Mothiba turns in another cross from Lala.

Don't understand how Strasbourg aren't fending off countless offers for Lala. Guy is so dangerous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Strasbourg are on their way. 3-1 now. Ajorque finds Mothiba with a header who finishes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Briand pulls one back for Bordeaux. 3-2. Kamano did well in the build up.

    Game on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Full-Time and Strasbourg win 3-2.

So it's Guingamp vs Strasbourg on March 30th in the League Cup final. If the final is anything like the semi-final games it will be a fun encounter.

Pleased for Strasbourg advancing. Thierry Laurey is doing a great job with themn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Nantes vs Saint-Etienne coming up at 8pm. The first game for the Nantes players since the Sala tragedy. Hope they win. Team news:
Nantes XI: Dupe; Fabio, Diego Carlos, Girotto, Traore; Toure, Krhin, Rongier; Boschilia, Coulibaly, Waris.

Saint-Etienne XI: Ruffier; Gabriel Silva, Subotic, Perrin, Kolodziejczak; Monnet-Paquet, M'Vila; Hamouma, Cabella, Diony; Khazri.

Selnaes not involved for the visitors as he's angling for a move to China. He's been one of the best DMs in the league. I'll be disappointed if he goes there. St Etienne will be fourth whatever happens but a win moves them a point behind Lyon.

Nice opening video package from BT before the game showing the goals Sala scored this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Massive Argentinian flag unveiled by the Nantes fans.

And Nantes fans spelling out his name and showing his number. Giant banner unveiled too.

Players stop at the 9th minute for a minute's applause.
