Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sieve Blooms and the Devils Bit, if you like hiking. Roscrea castle, Leap Castle. Some good biking trails too. There are a couple of old abbeys but the names escape me right now.

Edit. Ok, title changed to Roscommon.

    Scrap all those places so.

Edit. Title changed again. List stands.

Is the place a bit boring there?

I have business there but could bail to a better place overnight

    Thanks

Are you going to Roscrea or Roscommon, they are a fair distance apart.

Drive to Mount Shannon. Take a turn in the centre down to the lake shore and witness the beauty.

See my earlier post so. Depends on what you're interested in, to be honest.

Depends OP not much really in roscrea im afraid.Birr castle has nice grounds and a nice coffe shop...to the other side if you have kids the park in templemore has a lovely fairy trail. There is also a parkrun there every saturday morning if you have cabin fever, its very open to guest runners and joggers.. Also just outside templemore you have the devils bit for a bit of a hike. If the weather is nice head to terryglass or portumna and take a boat on the shannon.. also in portumna there would be an option of glamping for a night
Also could venture into tullamore and tour the tullamore dew distillery if your into that sort of thing..im sure a few more options if you look into it

Lough Boora in offaly if you like to ramble or hire a bike for a few hours.
Birr Castle another good spot with Ireland's largest treehouse to entertain the kids.

    Only 20k or so away

This is great! My family are going camping in Tipp today and will be heading home Tuesday. This will now be a stop on our way home.

I have two pre-teen boys who think their life is horrible because I won't let them play video games all day every day, so hopefully this will give them some perspective . . . which will hopefully last until school starts.

Donaghmore famine Workhouse Museum, places like Abbeyleix. Many pretty places in the Laois direction, I'm sure similar in Tipp.

I reckon the best place to visit, is 50km away from it.

And once you get that far away, keep feckin' driving. You'll have a decent head start and they won't be expecting you back for a while
