I dont think it get Dumber, but you're right. A two parter as part of a ten parter does strike me as baffling.

2 part final episodes are typical enough on TV, don't quite get the annoyance here? Even the nomenclature usually Blah Part 1 and 2.

The episodes are already running directly from one into the other. It's stupid.

Again, much like most serialised shows. I get some folk hate Picard, but this is all boilerplate stuff for TV, so raging on it just looks a bit petty. 2 part finales, even in serialised shows, are normal.

Why are you watching it so? All I have seen from you about every episode is negativity. If you don't like it and think its dumb then stop watching it. I know I would if I thought a show was stupid or dumb. I always give shows that I think might interest me a change first do.

Two shows that I tried but are absolute rubbish is

Complaining about having two part finales seems especially asinine. I've tended to avoid sniffing at negative points of view - not like this show hasn't big flaws - but cribbing about what's standard in serialised TV betrays obvious axes to be ground

You are entitled to your views but I like it overall. I agree they should have done it ten years ago . The cast is good. The script moves along. It's darker than TNG but overall sci fi is darker. Hell, everything is darker !

I'm happy to see Trek move forward again in time. I liked Discovery but have had enough of prequels. Star trek went South with Voyager but completely tanked with Enterprise

Am I not entitled to post here that I dislike things about the show? I've watched plenty of shows that I dislike for various reasons. The old " don't watch it if you don't like it" arguement never gets much weight from me.

Same goes for "you don't like it so why post here so....." Is the forum reserved for fans who only praise things?? I thought this was a discussion board.

As for the guy who's going to block me rather than reply :rolleyes: give me a break.

I'm really not enjoying Picard but I will still watch it because I am a Star Trek fan for 30 years.

Sure you can hate the show, free country and there's plenty wrong with the season, but giving off about episode titles is silly, and just comes off like you're searching for reasons to dump on the show *shrug* it's like giving off that the show has a Credits sequence.

That was such a great cliffhanger. The only thing that bugged me was how long it took to charge up. They should have had it charging and a loud noise as it charged and then when Riker said Mr Worf fire it would end and next episode would start with a view outside and the deflector firing then inside to the bridge.

I always loved that last part. It felt like the closest we'd ever get to seeing The Borg giving Starfleet the middle finger

If the finale is a two-parter shown on separate weeks, then isn’t the second of those really the finale anyway?

Some of this is good and some isn’t. A bit like all the shows really (there’s some great stuff in Enterprise and I love Voyager anyway). The gore put me off for a while but I’m glad they didn’t do much more and I went back to it.

Before I watch the latest installment I have to say I really appreciate the escapism Picard provides in these weird times.

I'm also glad this is released on a weekly basis, rather than that awful binge watching.

I will also say that I am enjoying this much more than Discovery. Not that that would be hard but all the same.

I like the show but am I the only one that's kind of underwhelmed by the CGI ship scenes so far? Don't know why really but thought they'd be more impressive

I've enjoyed this on balance. It's not top tier television but sometimes it doesn't need to be. The writing has been pretty poor and Kurtzmans era can be defined by clumsy emotional storytelling; overall though, I've liked the adventure, the mystery and most of the characters. I think it being Trek, there's a temptation to really dive into the weeds for critical analysis and I'd openly wonder if there's an aspect of "hate watching" among its viewers. Wouldn't be the first time it happened with a modern TV show

I'm definitely hate watching it at this point and don't see a problem with that. It's not like I started to watch it with any intention other then hoping it was really good.

Your choice of course, but would you not just spend your free time watching something you actively enjoy? I'm not above hate watching, I did so with Walking Dead til I realised I was wasting my time on something I hated. Life's too short either way, and I was getting wound up needlessly. It's obvious some folk really hate this and the general approach to modern Trek so it's like ... go do something you enjoy *shrug*

I liked the Walking Dead, got bored by it, hate watched it for awhile, and then got bored by that, and gave up. I think one of the differences is Picard is only 9 episodes so not a huge commitment. Secondly I have a built-in interest in the world, I want and hope it to be good.

I think there is two types of hate watching, the type that is enjoyable and the type that is not. If it gets to the late period Walking Dead type hate you can be sure I'll switch off.

So we are nearly at the end of the first season of Picard. Not long to wait now. i see CBS are making the series free for the month of April although I am not sure if that apply 's here. Can't wait to see how they end the season. Will it be a cliffhanger? I hope it is.

Overall I like it. Picard has moved on. He is no longer in his prime. He is more human. It was great to see Troi/Riker/Brent Spiner even though Datas family shows feck all coherence in terms of the canon. Im also a sucker in terms of beautiful brunettes( Robot girl)
As noted a few times-its good to see the TREK universe moving forward in time rather than another bloody prequel.
This actually feels way more trek than DISCOVERY. Everybody in Discovery came across as poo faced or constipated. Take your pick.
Its great to see decent character development and humour. Picards ex Number one is a tonic as is the ships captain
Yes they went overboard with the hologram versions of him but I like him. He is supportive of JL-and his character fits

Episode 9 didn't feel like a special part-1'er. It just felt like a normal episode.

Other things that annoyed a bit
The imbalance of female characters sticks out a bit I.e.
Warrior nuns, female authority everywhere, zaht vash and their Foremothers etc

Picard going out of his way to get romulan legolas despite being on the clock with magic/soji only to cut him loose 2 episodes later.

Overall I'm disappointed. A few sparks here and there but the whole thing just fell flat for me personally. I'm not excited about the finale which says it all really.

the consensus seems to be a heavily flawed show, the funniest observation I came across was that they did a screen grab of this and built the show around it lol

Aside from the evolving bit, the rest of that didn't really pan out. I mean, you can see why people would assume it was going to from earlier episodes, but it didn't.
