Shooting Forum - Firearms licencing information

Hello reader, i am wondering what a 15 year old would need/require to start shooting or join a club? I heard it’s a provisional? I’m not sure what way I would go about getting one in the Donegal area. All help would Be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

At 15 he/you can get a training license. Its like a provisional in that you get a trainee license on the same firearm as someone you know (Father, brother, Friend, etc).

The training license only allows you to use the firearm under the direct supervision of the actual owner, never on your own, and will help when you go for a full license which you can do at 16.

When you turn 16 there are other thing you need to be aware and i have outlined them for you below. Just click on each link and if you have any other questions feel free to ask.
