Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nope, i don't see the muppets who marched down oconnell street recently as a threat to peace in Ireland either. I still don't think they should be allowed to march though.

I agree I wouldn't want them to march, for keeping the peace reasons.
But there are dopes that will say this is the greatest threat to security in the west in the coming years.

Tommy Robinson and Carl Benjamin have both had their twitter accounts suspended. They are vile right wing Nazis and should not be given any platform to speak. Benjamin says "its ok to rape young boys"!

What's the name of the fallacy again, the one where you try to validate something by claiming "well, it isnt the greatest threat to mankind"..

It's fascist neo-nazi ****, stop making excuses for it. Whether someone comes straight out with it or whether someone like McInnes "dresses" it up with jokes - it's the same vile motivations underneath

lol. Carl Benjamin is suing The Sun and the Daily Mail for alleging that he made these comments! They went even further than just taking it out of context. They picked quotes from about 4 or 5 different videos by Carl Benjamin and stitched them together to portray it as 1 entire quote! There is a video by Carl Benjamin in which he highlights each quote that was stitched together but I won't bother posting that.

@hfc500 Maybe you should find better sources than The Sun and The Daily Mail!

Doesn't really matter. Those were quotes from him! If he said it, he said it! How can the comment "its ok to rape young boys" be twisted to make it look any worse for him? You really need to take off the blinkers.

I had a look at the video. First, it hardly addresses anything in the other video. Second, the context of what it does address doesn't improve anything. Third, it's basically just an attack on the video maker of the first vido. That's called an ad hominem attack. It's purpose is to draw attention away from the substance of the video. It attempts to do so pretty poorly.

I'm two minutes into that one and he is currently comparing being a Trump supporter to being a black person fighting against segregation. So far, context not really doing much.

13 minutes in and his context arguments fall into two categories. He was either "trolling" or talking about "self defence". That's it.

Trolling is comedy to some people apparently, how anyone finds that crap funny is beyond me. Self defense is used by gangs like these as a reason for violence. A get out of jail free card

    Billy86 wrote: »

    Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

Good to know I didn't waste any time. Like I said, a truly remarkably predictable lot.

Just like how they are so eager to deflect and ignore the likes of Farrakan and Saoradh also being banned, Alex Jones banning plenty of people off his forums for breaking the rules, McInnes' proud boys trying to organise to have others banned off twitter, and in and on it goes.

This has nothing to do with free speech whatsoever, and nobody has done a better job of making that clear than the very people screaming "free speech".

Actually it was a Tommy Robinson Campaign account he was already banned.

I do find it a little bit ironic (before I start I want to categorically state that I in no way support him in any shape or form) that people yell fascism yet see no issue with an MEP (or any campaign candidate) can be censored on a platform that is a driving platform for politics.

Could this be seen as interfering with elections on Twitters behalf?

Ideally there should be no need for election interference because the likes of TR and CB should not be allowed to run for MEP

No they're enforcing their code of conduct. It's not Twitter's fault that a racist and a man who talks about raping MPs are somehow standing for election.

The campaign one was banned for ban evasion though which was not true as it was not a personal account so was within the rules

No issue around his original account ban but the inconsistency in how twitter implements these terms has been heavily criticized in recent times for having a clear left wing bias

    No. Obviously not.

If gemma O'Doherty started an account on boards and started breaking the rules left, right and centre she would eventually be banned too. As happens to users on boards all the time.

Because boards, just like Twitter, is a private company with their own rules that users must adhere to. Having a larger user base does not mean they are not allowed to enforce theirs rules, nor do they have a monopoly on the internet. Just in case that was the next point.

Tldr: he was only joking, and when he wasn't joking it was self defense he meant, and he's not a violent extremist because AntiFa are violent extremists, and here are some bad things about other 0eople because that also proves he isn't one.

I am in no way defending him. What I am saying is until he is locked up he is perfectly entitled to run for office, whether people should vote for him or not, and whether I feel personally he should hold a position is a different matter.

My point was that can't pick and chose how the process works just to suit our own views. That is not a democratic process

The video was not as a way of arguing against banning TR it is actually a good back and forth where Twitter CEO and head of legal are basically called out dichotomy in how they treat the right and the left on the platform (as well as interaction between government policies and their own in specific countries etc. Worth a watch/listen if anyone has couple of hours to kill.
