Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I suspect that Woody thinks he's the darling of the fans. It's good to wake him up.

Whatever happened to Jose's got us playing like the way we should ?

We got to the Liverpool game and life became dull and grey.

We got to the Liverpool game and life became dull and grey.

This is true and there is blame to go around for that one.

Jose could have gone more for the jugular consider their poor form sure, it may have gone differently if we had looked to impose. Then again it's playing to Liverpools strengths to go at them. If the players had executed the game plan better it could also have gone very differently.

Spurs had almost an identical game plan when they cut them apart the big difference being they were clinical on the counter. They cut them to ribbons whereas united players struggled to pass five yards.

Team to play Burnley: De Gea, Valencia, Shaw, Lindelof, Smalling, Matic, Fellaini, Sanchez, Pogba, Lingard, Lukaku.

Subs: Grant, Bailly, Young, Fred, Herrera, Martial, Rashford

Lindelof and Smalling..has that pairing been tried before?

Hoping for a good performance and a win..actually just a win will do

Surely the plane would be better at Old Trafford & when our match is on TV

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,208 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Happy to see fellaini starting, with him and matic there is some much needed bite in the midfield for these type of hostile away games, they won't be bullied or put off by the physical battle anyway.

Should allow pogba to do his thing, maybe Sanchez will remember how you play football and lukaku how to score :D

I'd say it will be a 4312 as much as a 433, with Sanchez playing off lukaku.

In attack I reckon it will resemble a 352 basically with matic dropping between the cbs and Shaw and Valencia pushing on

Probably a horses for courses thing. He's a sending off liability by the looks of him and in a game like this that's the last thing you'd need.

Also, has he really done anything to be a nailed on starter? He's new, easing him in is fine

That's a tall, cumbersome midfield. Should be winning every kick out though!

Smalling and Lindelof is an accident waiting to happen. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong.

Alderweirald would've made such a difference.

Pretty sure the same can be said for any combination of our defenders!

Smalling lindelof has been done before alright, someone probably on sky did all the combinations and goals allowed etc. No idea where they ranked, the best was Jones and rojo I have in my head for some reason. Ljngest run together too unsurprisingly if it was them

Surely there's little point in a comparison line this when you don't take the calibre of the opposition into account.

Yeah, so the dabs should just swallow their discontent and forget about trying to put any pressure on the club to put in place better structures.

You think a banner will make an iota of difference?

Boycott matches, it's only when / if revenues dip that the glazers will take any heed imo.

I'm not taking the position its an isolated attempt to draw attention to Woodward.

How are we so bad at passing? Pogba drives it at Lingard, 2 seconds later Sanchez plays it straight to a Burnley player. Ffs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,329 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

Lukaku should have gone right to lingard rather than left to Sanchez.

Good save from Hart off the shot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,225 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

    Needed that.

    Burnley are terrible though.

    get in there

    Very much deserved

    The big man again.

The 2 goals he has scored are typical Lukaku goals, dosnt get time to think about it, just has to get a head to it or swing at it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,054 ✭✭✭wanderer100

Burnley look a mess!! Great half that.

Hopefully we don't turn on the brakes and invite pressure 2nd half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭limnam

    That's not Burnely. They're rubbish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,329 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

Lovely feet from lingard prior to the shot.

Shaws pace and direct running making some difference to the attack. A dimension to the play we just didn't have last season.

He is unmarkable with good crosses in or just outside the 6 yard box he is a beast doesn't get enough of the right kinda service, will never be a world class finisher but I would prefer if we played to his strenghts more

Agree with that but thought lingard has been average first half along with pogba. A little concerned with how deep sanchez is dropping to get the ball

Shaw is having a very good game again.

Who cares if they are, so are Brighton

We have been good and punished them
