Martial and Mata have been invisible since coming on

Sometimes I despair,. LIke him or not, he is one of the best players in the world, just needs to sort himself out a bit and get playing like we all know he can.

It also has not been a bad day for him. I kind of understand the criticism when he plays poorly.

He needs to start doing the basic things better as well as thr Hollywood passes.

That's his problem he's all about the flash which is great when where on top otherwise...

Wish we went for more cutbacks and low crosses.

  • Worst performance from Lukaku in a long time

Martial and Mata anonymous since they came on

    Pogba still central to everything

    Hes given up.

unfortunately when our main (and really only) striker is having a bad game we have no one to replace him :/

It also has not been a bad day for him. I kind of understand the criticism when he plays poorly.

The problem is everything goes through him so when it dosnt work out its easy to play the blame game.

Who else is trying to create? That's the real question that needs to be asked.

(and Yes he has lost possession today on a few occasions so his decision making does need to improve)

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

Jesus just pull the trigger Lukaku, could of scored there,.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,906 ✭✭✭✭PhlegmyMoses

Wow, should have been a pen. Wolves have been exceptionally cynical

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,136 ✭✭✭✭How Soon Is Now

I wouldn't be surprised to see us finish outside the top four this season. Where not on same level as our rivals going forward and we can't even say where solid at back either.

FFS more points dropped against these average teams!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,473 ✭✭✭Adamcp898

Going to be a long year fellas. Too many issues with that team today to even be arsed beginning to sum them up now.

    That's what Wolves are thinking.

I suppose when you had a dreadful summer of transfers, you will pay for it during the season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,906 ✭✭✭✭PhlegmyMoses

Sanchez appalling. Martial appalling. Lukaku appalling. Lingard appalling. Defence also is not good enough.

Sayinh all that I still felt we were the better team today by a good margin and didn't gain any real respect for Wolves as the footballing side people portray them as.

This will be a rough season.

Wolves could of won the game in the end looking at the chances both teams had.

Ah well another week goes by we fall behind our rivals city and Liverpool scoring for fun as well.

Only 1 real contender for man of the match from us and that was Pogba. After him probably Shaw and De Gea.

Fred had a very good first half aswell.

Just not good enough going forward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,342 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

Culpable for the goal but I though Pogba was excellent in the last third of the game. Constantly involved. Moved play brilliantly. Lukaku, mata and valencia all absolute rubbish. Pogba will get blamed but those other three were far more to blame than him for not getting three poibts imo.

Fellaini was decent enough as well.

De Gea has got us a point really when look at saves he made.

3rd was the best we could hope for after that summer. What did people expect? We simply aren't better than City or Liverpool. We are competing against Spurs/Chelsea/Arsenal. Chelsea are roasting hot under Sarri so we're against Spurs/Arsenal for 4th.

Bascially it's Jose last season and many of these players will be following him one way or another.

Yes he was aswell. I think him playing the holding role like the first half suits us/him better than off the striker.

    Yeah, were fcuked alright.

Drawing at home to wolves. Its just a sad state of affairs really.

I'd say well probably finish 5th. Jose will get the sack and we start back at scratch with Zidane or whoever.

Embarrassment. Blame lies on Jose, you can't play defensive at home to wolves, long balls to Fellaini isnt an attacking masterplan. A true specialist in boredom!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,225 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

Those last 10-15 minutes was just sad. Ball after ball after ball mortared into Fellaini's head.

It's our only idea when in trouble.

  • The Valencia problem persists and is only getting worse
I'd rather take the risk with a 19 year old Dalot who can actually attack the wings and put in a cross that him

Yep, what we needed was a few hundred more mil to be able to beat wolves at home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,495 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

I ain't even mad, thought it was clear from the equaliser and the substitutions that United were not going to get anything more from the game.

All the same old issues in the same old places, who could have guessed it. City are looking very ominous as well, we needed serious work in the summer if we wanted to challenge this season, but here we are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,137 ✭✭✭✭TheDoc

Have to say I didn't have the normal reaction I'd have from something like that. THought we had very good passages of play and it was when we went to Fellaini ball it got pointless.

Wolves are a very good side. Very good. Not the normal promotion team. I'd say they will cause of a lot of surprises this year.

Apart from being at fault for the goal thought Pogba was excellent. Sanchez, that experiment has run its course for me. Reaping our just deserts for that signing that it alienated Martial also. I'd be sticking with Rashord and MArtial on the left for the next while.

Lukaku with a rare poor performance.

But its the same old same old. No real ideas or plans when attacking, just all intuition with the attackers. Congestion in the middle , no width, no nothing.

It's just not good enough at this level to be that under coached and planned in that area of the pitch. It's brutal viewing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,136 ✭✭✭✭How Soon Is Now

Pogba was decent today he's looked good against the teams that give him time on the ball. It's when the pressure is on he makes mistakes or goes missing and that's what I'll continue to judge him on cause that's when you need your stars.

A player with his ability of course he should look good against certain teams it's basic you would expect.

They should be, but you will hear plenty of people still claim they are all class players, despite all evidence to the contrary. Most of them will probably get yet another chance with the next manager, with the inevitable results.

Wonder if going to a 352 would help things with Shaw and Dalot as wing backs and an extra striker up there to help out Lukaku.

Feel he tries to take on too much in those situations. He needs to learn that.

He slows down the tempo and allows the opposition settle. He needs to in those scenarios keep the ball moving, faster, faster faster.

We can see what is happening, happens so much with him. He's our best player, and he's trying to do too much on his own. Really needs telling or to learn he's not a one man army.

Could put five lads up front, if the coaching team arnt going to coach anything, it'll just be the same results.

It's truely ridiculous into the third year of a regime.

He patently did not get given time on the ball today. Was fouled a huge amount of times and had 2 or 3 around him at all times. I'm no Pogba fanboy, but he played well today. It's a shame the whole forward line malfunctioned completely.

He spends way to much time on the ball at times the amount of times he lose the ball or be fooled cause of it.

And yep he's constantly trying to over do it and take on player after player when a simple pass is all that's needed.

You keep saying that jose doesnt coach attacking play but ex players say he does

That's our top 4 chances gone after today. We're simply not consistent enough too finish in there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,137 ✭✭✭✭TheDoc

Need to really start putting the wheels in motion to get Sanchez out of here in January. Stick with Martial and Rashford back sharing that role, or get a new LW and get Martial moving to. The signing has totally backfired and it's getting ridiculous now. Need to just draw a line under it and move on entirely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,030 ✭✭✭Minderbinder

Lukaku was really pathetic today. The worst 'performance' I can remember from a centre forward. Absolutely useless.
As much stick as Pogba gets he was the only one today who created anything. Sometimes I could forgive him for being annoyed with his teammates. He got in possession once with a couple of minutes left and as soon as he did everyone else basically turned their back to him and ran away up into the box.

I hear ya...... and to be honest I'm scratching my head most games thinking how are we not able to make some clear chances.

All our good chances seem to come from long ball instead of good play.

    It's not good enough.

Are you having a laugh. Spurs struggling and Arsenal are no great shakes. Chelsea still a bit unproven too. There are 1-2 spots up for grabs and it’s nonsense to say United are out of it already.

The knee jerking by football fans is ridiculous.
