Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was there something already on the cards about it being the last season? I thought I remembered something like that.

Shame I do like the show. They should never have had the kid in it and just made it a straight spy show. The early seasons were awesome.

Yeah sounds familiar. Thought they had suggested after the last season, that the next would be the last.

    Hopefully it's a good one.

You still like the guy but he needs to go

Hopefully it goes out on a bang. It’s had it’s ups and downs, some great characters passed through it’s doors but it’s time

No confirmed date yet. Filming is only starting this month. The latest news is Autumn 2019.

    will definitely watch this

certainly had its ups and downs over the years with some truely shyte seasons in the transition to the non-Brody situation (the Venezuela year! with the unfinished building)

even then not all seasons have been great or even that good but have kept watching.

    so will see it out

the season set in Pakistan remains my favourite.

with the final season being based in Afghanistan I have moderate to high hopes as it, like Pakistan has all the same tension elements present in the location alone.
(filming location is Morocco as Afghanistan obv too dangerous)

This is unrelated to season 8 but I have a quick question.

I am currently nearing the end of season 3 of Homeland and am really struggling with it. I loved the first two seasons but wasn't gone on this one at all. I am contemplating on giving up totally with it but am wondering if it improves after season 3 or if its all downhill?

    Thanks!

It takes off in new directions in seasons 4 and 5, and you'll be glad of it. Stick with it.

It essentially restarts in season 4, goes in a total new and excellent direction. Stick with it.

Is that Saul getting struck with the rifle butt from Haqqani?

Good opening episode however it could have done with a proper recap from last season at the start as it has been 22 months since season 7 ended.

It feels like there is going to be a lot of parallels to season 1 with this.

not so impressed that they are going to have the last season revolve around whether Carrie is a double agent or not after coming back from Russia.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,082 ✭✭✭lukin

One fairly large plot hole though; it seems Carrie is "back" working for the CIA again after her time being held captive in Russia. However in the previous season Carrie was not working for the CIA, she was unemployed and living with her sister.

Disagree - it's an absolutely PERFECT way to set up the final season.

    Me before episode 1:
    - ugh.. there's soo much tv at the moment
    - can I even remember the story?
    - an HOUR long episode!
    - can this show even compare to other shows
    - what did I like so much about this show again

    Me after episode 1:
    Lock and load!

I would have preferred something more nuanced and complex where she actually questions the whole "great game", struggles with the morality of it and possibly goes against it on a crucial decision at the end.

double-agent guessing a bit old imo.

good to see Max getting a more prominent role from the outset in this season.

What would you expect from them in fairness, best to record it, watch tomorrow night and skip the ads

So Saul has been captured by Haqqani (again). That happened in season four so it seems a bit of a re-hash. Also is anyone finding it annoying that everyone in Kabul seems to know Carrie from sometime before? They have done that so many times now it is getting a bit much; "Ah Carrie so nice to see you again.. "

Surprised this is still on the air. Watched the first two seasons and couldn't bear anymore. Whether it was "cry-face" Clare Danes constantly having "episodes", or the constant stream of regurgitated bargain-basement American propaganda, it really was the worst thing on television after Season I. I particularly hated the elderly Jewish character with the beard. Also, there is only so much "Cry Face" a man can handle. I'm a fan of the actor Damian Lewis however. Very unusual for a ginger to become so famous, but he earned it. He should do more theatre.

2: **** me! What a ride! That was another good episode. Wonder if they can keep this up. Clearly they've been given some budget. That helicopter can't be cheap like!

Feels like the Americans are being taken for a ride though. At some point I assume they're gonna step up their game.
