I bought an entire £3k PC from PCSpecialist with a 3080 in it within minutes of preorders coming available. It arrived a week and a half ago only to not boot, and after trouble shooting the conclusion is that the GPU is just busted (the machine works with an older card in it).

It's taken a week and a half of back and forth with their tech support to get to the point where they're now telling me they'll send out a replacement card, but no idea when, it could take months again. Sick of the whole thing now, I've asked for a refund for the entire machine and I'll revisit in the new year and decide if it's worth all the hassle at all when the new consoles basically do all you need without the stress.

This is insane! They must have tested the machine before shipping it.
    Did it break during transport?
    Very unlucky.

I could be wrong on this, but those numbers look more like people dropping out of the queue above you than OCUK getting 2x a certain card in a 9 day period, right?

Also, that's a big difference, could it be on Paypals end?

It is on PayPal's end - you loose around 2-3% on their conversion rate / fee, you loose it again when getting a refund, and the amount checks out at about 4-5%.

Did anyone else who ordered from scan get a DPD delivery notification today?

Don't want to get my hopes up, but I am almost sure DPD aint delivering me anything else this week....

Also got a delivery notification for today, estimated delivery was originally for tomorrow. Scan staff are on the ball once they have stock.

When I got the 3080 from Scan I ordered it on a Wednesday and the expected delivery date was the Friday. I thought there wasn't a hope in hell but it was here on Friday morning at 10am - less than 48 hours after ordering.

The reality of it is you could buy a console and that could have an issue.

Failure of electronics is not limited to PC.

    It just happens sometimes.

Lucky there lads, my scan order is still on the way to the DPD depot whatever that means - probably in transit to Athlone for sorting then out to the local depot tomorrow.

I got the text that it was on the way before the website tracking updated.

Does anyone know how to check if DPD UK have my delivery now? I had to return my 3070 with DPD here but the Irish tracking doesn't work on the UK site?

My 3080 FE is delivered and installed over lunchtime. Haven't had a chance to test it or stress it at all yet. I thought there was a bit of an odd buzz/tick sound at idle, hopefully just my imagination! I'll get around to trying it out later this evening. Have the drivers and all cleanly installed and ready to go.

Good luck to anyway still F5'ing or watching the alerts!

There's a bit of coil whine initially alright. Goes away after a short while, noticed it myself and then seen a load of people mentioning it on Reddit, but seems to have gone away for me.

Was thinking about it but I'm not doing anything else to it for a while. My gf would murder me if I buy anything else lol

Then you obscure the backplate visuals.

It may have broken during transport yeah, lots of protection around the packaging but you never know. The GPU error light comes on on the motherboard and error code beeps signal with the 3080 installed, while everything is fine when trying another card.

After contacting them asking for a full refund they suddenly found they had another 3080 in stock and are sending out a replacement today, so hopefully that works out.

Now I just need to work out how to safely pack up the one I'm returning, as it came preinstalled in the PC so I've no box or correctly sized antistatic bag or anything.

I still have a bunch of these, if you're in Dublin.

I'd ask what they recommend, or if they care given its an RMA. In a pinch I'd say it's hard to build a static charge on crumpled newspaper.

Thanks for the offer, I'm not too far away from Dublin but I should be able to source something more locally :)

I was able to preorder an Aorus 3080 Master from computeruniverse.net with 4-6 days delivery time, paid bit of a premium but not too bad. They currently have stock of some 3070 cards if anyone is still waiting on one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,013 ✭✭✭✭Wonda-Boy

CCL online sent me an email to notify me of stock of my Palit RTX3080 Game Rock OC (Yes I know most people dont like it, but its incredibly well made and performs better then most 3080s)....did not see it till 20mins later and stock gone.

Deffo trickle of cards coming now especially 3090s.

I got a Palit 3090 gaming pro and its a very solid card, very cool running and well built. Had a Gamerock in the 1080ti days and it was rock solid also. Had problems with EVGA cards and MSI cards in the past, so I think Palit is a solid option.

I get the hate for the big diamond RGB front, but I have looked at 4 or 5 solid reviews and EVERY SINGLE TESTER said that when you actually have the card in your hands or in front of you it looks a hell of alot better then when you see it on the internet etc.

Id just set it to a solid colour and off I go.....it would be a very nice addition my bling rig.

The word INCOMING is a bit of a misnomer...i mean you cant even get your hands on a 3080 right now...so an incoming 3080ti means nothing to me because they will not be available..
