Ordered a 3070 off computeruniverse that said it was in stock and ready to ship yesterday. This morning I got an email saying that it was never in stock but they were expecting it to be delivered by a supplier so they listed it as available and were happy to charge me for it! Now they can't give me a date as to when it will available, not sure if I should cancel it and keep searching

For the pure ****ty tactic of doing what they did I would cancel.....probably take 2 weeks to hit your account.

Man, I hate that sneaky ****.

you're trusting in their trust in their supplier to deliver, and they've already lied about having it in stock. cancel.

There are a few on adverts I am sure could be got for a few hundred over RRP....just saying. I know people would rather have a testicle amputated than pay a premium but your time has value as well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 321 ✭✭Mucashinto

The RRP seems largely nonsense anyway. For some people, on this forum, to get the FEs of any them...just well played. You're in a very select group.

I think the 60 is a £400+ card, 70 £600ish and 80 £800+ at this stage. Maybe they'll settle in the new year I suppose.

The way nvidia does their founders now has changed the whole thing hasn't it. When they used to make them as far less desirable blower cards at $50 over MSRP I'm sure the AIB cards instantly looked better even at inflated prices. Now I'd probably want a FE anyway as they're the nicest looking cards going imo and they're 25% cheaper than some AIB card that looks like it's cut some corners to even get to that price! Do they want to drive the AIB partners out of business or something

  • Registered Users Posts: 975 ✭✭✭harmless

Nvidia wants a bigger cut of the pie. It's impossible for AIB's to compete with the build quality of the FE at that price point.
They have upped the quality of the of the FE massively while also lowing the price at a time when GPU demand could be at an all time high.
Next step would be to have slightly higher availability of the FE with each generation.
If this continues expect AIB's to go bust or only focus on specialised high end cooling cards in the generations to come.
With AIB's out of the way prices can creep back up again for the FE.

Right, something definitely seems off, not even AMD can compete with the FE prices it seems. But to do the above they'd keep taking a loss until they're finally the last one standing. Would they not just publicly make a decision - we're not selling our chips to 3rd parties anymore? Sell them at whatever price they want then straight-away. Could even spin it as good for consumers - all in house, costs saved etc. Just buyout EVGA and bring them under the nvidia name or something.

MSI Gets Hit By Theft, 2.2 Million Yuan Worth of MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Graphics Cards Stolen

As if the GeForce RTX 3090 was not in tight supply already. MSI has seen some awful news as 2.2 Million Yuan Worth of MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Graphics cards have been stolen from the China Factory.
It's a big heist when you think about it. No less than 40 cargo units holding NVIDIA’s flagship GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards have been stolen from the MSI factory in China, which hints towards an inside job. The cards are worth 2.2 Million Yuan, which is roughly $336,500 in US dollars. MSI however is still investigating the exact numbers and quantities.
Earlier on, a tweet was posted about this theft; you can see the screenshot below.....................

200-odd cards, 100% going to miners.

You'd make more money mining by selling them for below RRP and buying 3060ti's and 3070's

Curry's have 3070 in stock right now, I just purchased without doing too much research, was hoping to get 3060ti but went for this instead, good buy?

I bought that exact card last week after someone posted it, it arrived 2 days later.

It's an OK card, nothing special about it but it's decent enough for the average user who just wants a relatively quiet/cool 3070, wouldn't be great for OC'ing or anything like that..... and at this stage I was more than happy to get it for €649.

Almost surreal given the difficulties getting cards and the fact I was in a 5 week long queue up to that point.

I think I may have one of the only 3060ti's driving displays over DVI.
I have two circa 2012 27" 1440p monitors that require a DVI-D Dual Link connector, I've a thunderbolt expansion card that takes a mini-dp input and then outputs over the the USB-C DP Alt Mode, I then have two USB-C to DVI Dual Link adapter to connect the monitors.
It's all working rather well, and will keep me going until I upgrade the monitors.

I’m really enjoying mine fine so far. Running everything I throw at it on Max at 1440p very smoothly. Witcher 3,RE7, Outer Wilds, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Amnesia rebirth to name a few. All smooth as butter.

I emailed them again about it after their reply and 5 minutes later my card was ready for shipping! Don't know what shady nonsense they were pulling there but my card arrived in Dublin airport yesterday morning at 7 and was handed off to An Post from DHL. Of course there is absolutely no updated tracking info from An Post but at least DHL updated me at every step of the way in Germany. I would just like to know if my card is arriving today, tomorrow, or next week so I can listen out for the postman to arrive

    Any word on the 3070ti?

Just fluked a 3060Ti with a random refresh of Scan. Sold out again now!

  • Registered Users Posts: 975 ✭✭✭harmless

There's a 3060ti up on adverts for very close to RRP(€540). But it's one of the more expensive OC cards.
All the other ones on there are over €600, one scalper has several cards up :(

Can ticket touts uses adverts and if not why can any scalpers use it?

Why would I be even interested in such an item......:P

Hoping for a good 3070ti myself. The 6800 is great but the lack of DLSS and not great RT performance is a bit off putting.

RDNA 2 does have the hardware to do what DLSS does but it hasn't been implemented yet. AMD have a lot of catching up to do.

Hoping for a 12-16gb 3070ti with close to 3080 performance for around £600.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,684 ✭✭✭✭Samuel T. Cogley

    Rumours suggest a 10GB card - 320bit bus.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,299 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

Sounds good, hopefully they price it in line with the 6800, the 6800 would have to drop in price to compete.

Give us some price wars. Stupid crypto mining is probably gonna kill any value to be had from a gpu war though.

It took around a week for the parcel.to arrive in AnPost tracking from the moment DHL dropped it, another week to have it delivered. That was two months ago, they seem to process parcels a bit faster these days I feel.

Glad to hear, mines is arriving tomorrow (curry's really don't mess around )
I have to build my pc , I have never owned a GPU before (integrated graphics) so I will have nothing to compare it to.
Just have to buy psu and case now and should be all set.

RDNA has the hardware but AMD don't have the access to the supercomputer that does the real hard work for DLSS.
