AMD do sell direct, they just dont have stock currently

I don't see any notification option.
I'll check the AMD site once a day and see if I can get a 6800 xt.
I take it they ship from an EU country?

You would want a part alert over checking once a day. They ship from multiple euro URLs including ireland.

This looks interesting but never used telegram before. Is there a similar channel, say, for nVidia cards?

There is,theres a founders edition specific one, then a general AiB channel.

    Link for the founders channel:

    https://pa.function.workers.dev/tg/rtx3080

From there you can look at pinned messages for links to all the other channels

This can be good if you are looking to buy from the UK.
3070 can be had if you are quick, 3080 is the most difficult with the 3090 being the easiest to obtain.

    https://www.stockinformer.co.uk/checker-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-3070-3090

Just be aware that some companies in the UK will charge you UK VAT and VAT will still be due when it arrives in Ireland.

OCUK and Amazon are safe enough as they are registered for VAT in Ireland. OCUK is stockpiling and has suspended sales on all new GPU's until the new year.

I've successfully bought 3 3070s (one for myself, one for a friend and one I sold at cost price). Two Founders Editions from Scan, one Ventus from Amazon.co.uk.

I've successfully also had two Amazon. It orders added to basket and ordered, but both canceled.

So definitely possible to get, but a true pain in the ass.

Got a 3070 at my door christmas eve, initially contemplating selling my PC but then got this 3070...

So it seems it does not play well with AMD CPUs paired with 3600mhz+ RAM. Its extremely unstable. Quick google proves it. I spent 4+ hours a few days ago trying to figure it out. Ended up disabling XMP and running the RAM at 3400mhz instead. All good since then

My 3070FE is running perfectly with my 3600mhz ram and my 5600x with memory and fclock paired 1:1:1.

I've had issues with AMD and a 3060....My 5600x and 3060ti didn't play nice with xmp.

My 32gb of 3600mhz couldn't run at the full 3600mhz as I was getting audio issues. Had to lower the MHz for it to stabalize

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,601 ✭✭✭thecomedian

I’m after ordering a 3060 TI from scan this morning to go with my 3600x and a 470 MB.... hopefully it fits well.

Yep. What RAM are you using? I have RGB Vengeance Pro. 4x8GB 3600mhz XMP

Keep seeing leaks about the 12GB 3060 and the 20GB 3080ti but nothing about my 3070ti :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 975 ✭✭✭harmless

Unfortunately the 3070ti could be one of the last cards released this generation.
A 3070 non ti with 12Gb VRAM would do me.

After deciding to go with AMD since they offer the VRAM I want and setting up a number of stock notifications on telegram and discord, I got my first alert for a 6800 xt from MSI. I got it in my basket in plenty of time.

£799 and Irish VAT would be added at 21%
    €1,071 + shipping.

I don't think the 6800 XT is the right card for me either.

Yep... I've the same. If you figure out the issue. Let me know. I'm no expert at pc builds, so for now I'm just living with the lower MHz settings. I've a MSI mag mortar WiFi b550 mobo, could be an MSI mobo /bios thing?

Quick tip for anyone who might buy on scan and pay with paypal, make sure your account is set to pay in £'s on paypal for the transaction if you want your banks currency rate

Mine was set to euro so I got the poxy PayPal exchange rate, instead of a 3080 FE costing €715 or so it cost me €752.

Took it up with paypal but they said tough,I shoulda made sure to change it to pay in £'s to get my bank to do the currency conversion. Bout a €20 mistake...smh

Paying with Revolut would be even better than a banks conversion.

Have Scan really suspended all shipments outside the UK?

    https://www.scan.co.uk/covid-19
    Non UK shipments
Sales to all customers outside of the UK are suspended until further notice as we align ourselves to the temporary suspension of courier shipments, backlog of freight, Brexit and COVID related impact to exports. We aim to reinstate shipments later in January and will post regular updates.

And if so what is the new go to site for FE cards?

These are the only place I have seen them from@partalert apart from Scan

    https://www.ldlc.com/ Last FE 18/12

    https://www.notebooksbilliger.de Last FE 17/12

No idea if they ship here, doubt it.

They do not, they have a few countries each that they'll ship FE cards to. As usual, we're lumped in with the UK, despite Brexit...

    Are you sure about www.ldlc.com?

What shops do they use for FE sales in Spain and Italy?
I'm sure there is at least one company that will sell FE cards to Ireland.

I think its a voltage problem with this specific RAM kit. When I push the voltage up beyond 1.45v on the RAM its more stable. But I dont want to go too high. So I just set it to 3400mhz instead.

In laws are based in NI and basically use them as a post office and they're elderly so I 'have' to go up and do somethings for them like maintenance.

Genuinely if it wasn't for COVID I'd offer to the denizens of this forum but I feel guilty enough getting my own stuff sent to them!

Last night stock alert informed me about a Zotac 3080 direct from Amazon Germany for €930 but all the reviews warned that amazon were actually shipping a lower tier version of the Zotac 3080.

Also I just got an alert of a Gigabyte 3080 sold direct from Amazon UK @ €1,000(RRP is €850) but no shipping available to Ireland.

So just watch out, Amazon are scalping on the 3080 and may not ship to Ireland anyway.

Just got a stock alert for Currys UK but you will have to use address pal https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories/components-upgrades/graphics-cards/msi-geforce-rtx-3080-10-gb-gaming-x-trio-graphics-card-10214425-pdt.html

UK delivery address means you have to pay UK VAT, Address Pal will then change €6.50 + Irish VAT + €10 VAT handling fee.

    Total: €1077

I'm going to keep an eye on this but I'll be holding out for closer to the Nvidia MSRP of €720

Edit: I tried to see if I could collect in store in NI but that didn't work
Not available to collect in or near BT35 6PR

Sorry but no nearby stores offer contactless collection on one or more items you’ve chosen to collect. We've checked our 27 stores closest to Armagh Road
