Adverts has been on a steady decline the last few years. It's unbelievable now, 90% of ads are people looking for the same price/more than the item costs new and refusing to budge.

Some ads are up countless months and people still turning down reasonable offers. Just saw a guy there turn down €200 for a used RX580 saying it had to be closer to asking, which is.....€280. For a 2nd hand RX580.

Yeah, I have alot of stuff up there now and the offers are absolutely mental. Even if you specifically say in the ads will not sell this and that seperate they hound you.

If you are selling something for 500 euro they offer 50 but say I CAN COLLECT IT NOW!

    Mongos.

Without a doubt something dodgy there. New seller with 3 positive reviews on the 16th January this year. They're the ones selling the top three GPUs in the partalert list that I clicked into.

Probably but they are expecting 6 EVGA 3080 cards sometime soon!

Scan are the same with some brands too with launch day pre-orders not filled yet.

Actually the OCUK - EVGA situation is even worse with OCUK saying EVGA will not reply to them.
EVGA will reply to individual customers on twitter but are just saying no update yet.

I was actually looking at Allienware desktops lately. Its prebuilt, but sort of nice. I haven't followed for a while on prices and how much building a pc costs lately, so other people would have better knowledge, but with current gpu and cpu idiocy, it did not looked like such a horrible deal. If getting one with better cpu, you could still upgrade gpus down the line. Then scrap it completely. Still would last good few years.

Though as you said, even dell is out of stock, actually out of stock of all configuration, which is kind of crazy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,402 ✭✭✭Homelander

Crazy how little OCUK have shipped over so many months at this stage, and how many preorders were taken.

Interesting to see if I hadn't gotten my 3070 from Currys, I'd still be waiting on the KFA2 3070 I ordered back in October, and given the amount shipped, probably months more as well....

The current situation is just mind blowing in general with hardware. I see people paying €550 for RTX2070 Super's 2nd hand, I sold mine in October for €370 and even then there was people saying "they are worth only €200 now".

Asus 3080 TUF - 1379 back orders (152 shipped so far)
Asus 3080 Strix OC - 860 back orders (131 shipped so far)

These are farcical numbers. How can you take that many back orders for a product that's obviously going to drip feed onto the market.

  • Registered Users Posts: 31,067 ✭✭✭✭Lumen

Are the Founders Editions (or some equivalent stock cards from Nvidia) still a thing?

I love the 3070 FE mini ITX build I did for its size, silence and aesthetics and at some point would like to build a second machine with a 3080 for 4k gaming, but I don't fancy all the big, flashy partner cards.

surely it depends what messaging they were getting from suppliers? people knew these cards were going to be popular, but i don't recall anyone foreseeing that supply would be like this, it certainly wasn't obvious

from an earlier post, nvidia are selling >3x on this generation than they sold on the 2x series. that's a huge increase, and i'm sure not what they expected. i'm no OC fanboy but i do have some sympathy for them here.unless of course they knew what supply was going to be and took them anyway. but i don't think there is much toi prove that was the case

they are farcical numbers now for sure, but as many of those pre-orders go back to september and october it's a bit more understandable. the whole market is a mess right now, there is shortages on everything.

what i'm struggling to understand is why they are still maintaining a waiting lsit that long. surely if you are in position 1200 both you and OC know you;re not getting that card. i suppose OC are waiting for people to cancel themselves and not wanting bad press from cancelling waiting list orders

I haven't checked as it's no longer possible to order an FE card to an Irish address.

Does OCUK take payment when you place your order or when they ship?

When you pre-order they taken it, they are sitting on so much money from pre-order so I hope they are investing it wisely, Gibbo was due an upgrade on his Ferrari. It's not just OCUK though, this is how most companies do it.

My 3080 just cleared customs checks at the Amazon warehouse. It took 2 weeks but can't believe I got so lucky with the order.

Wow. I was thinking it's no big deal to see all those back orders, but not if they're holding the money!

Could they be making money on the interest or are rates too low?

I think I read somewhere that rates for businesses are actually negative: they charge you for holding your money.

I suspected from the start that the 3080 TUF and lower priced cards like that only existed so that the AIB partners could tell nVidia they had a card at somewhere near MSRP. The idea being to release a really small number onto the market and most people would eventually give up and buy the more expensive models.

I was very lucky to get a 3080 FE back in November and had to justify the cost with myself and get over the buyer's remorse re the 10GB of RAM, but looking at the clusterf*ck that's going on now I consider myself very lucky. The FE is an amazingly well built card and appears to be the only card that will exist at MSRP.

699 in Germany. With the emphasis on "nein nein".

The main Vietnamese shops are only selling the new cards as part of a build. No Amazon here. Stuff like this is always more expensive but I'm well happy I got a decently-priced 3060ti. Everything upwards was available but I stayed calm.
