Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think it's time to contact PayPal

I'm missing 2 orders that should be here by now

I wouldn't trust that this company even dispatched them

I already got a refund off PayPal for an overcharge on 1 order

Tried to deal with the company to no avail

I'll just be glad when it's all over at this stage and I have the plugs in hand

i have yet to succeed in pairing one of these with an iPhone. Has anyone any suggestions.
i have found a way around the problem by using my sons Android but would prefer a direct pair with the iPhone. I have used both the quick pairing mode and the compatible pairing mode.

I had to use compatible mode, but also disable mobile data on my phone. If you have data enabled, when your phone connects to the socket's wifi network to set it up, your phone will stop using that wifi network and switch to your phone's data network as it has a direct connection to the internet.

Just had my three delivered today, ordered on the 18th of this month, pretty decent delivery. no issues with customes either, found them in my delivery box this evening.

saw there some issues with frequency of wifi on connection, have a router with both 5 and 2.4Ghz, should I switch off the 5Ghz for simplicity?

    cheers.

From the manufacturer : The adapter devices are 13amp approved, however it is not
recommended to use your Control adapter with any appliance
pulling a large current for an extended period, such as a heater or
a device with a powerful motor such as a power tool or washing
    machine.

Got 3 delivered this week.. cannot get them to work at all..
get as far as renaming the plug and it tells me it will take 1-2 mins to complete and then nothing..
it appears on the device list as offline and will not go online..

I've tried all 3 with the same outcome.. I have other wifi plugs set up in the house.. TP-LINK no issues at all.

I have tried all the tips on here, used different phones and tablets... through Alexa and the eWeLink app also..

    any suggestion??

Have you plugged them in beside the router initially to set up?
They don't pair unless very close.

Your router is definitely on 2.5 only, when pairing?

May not be a dud. I got one of the previous versions about a year ago and there was no power coming through the socket even though it connected to WiFi.
I opened it up and I found it to be a simple fix. The live pin of the plug was not making contact with the inside of the socket. It was simply a case of fixing a clasp that had become loose.
May not be what is wrong with yours but worth a try.

Prior to doing that I got onto customer support and they sent me a replacement, so I ended up with 2. Their customer service is excellent.

When you open the phone charger section on the app, you will see "Schedule" at the bottom of screen, from here you can input the time you want to switch on and off Boy :)

Are you all using the eWeLink app to setup these? I just installed it and got a warning from my antivirus app that eWeLink is flagged as a "potentially unwanted program". First time I've ever got that message.

Try changing the channel on your router to 11 or less if higher is selected. The US only use channels 1-11 and it's possible that the newer models have been configured in this way.

My second order sent out on 14th sep.

    Uninstall the antivirus app.

Not sure I'll do that. Just interested in why the antivirus flags the app as malware, I haven't seen this before.

I'd imagine it's because it's sending information from your phone to Chinese servers.

What permissions does the app require on your phone?

    Edit:

    This app has access to:
    Device & app history

    retrieve running apps
    read sensitive log data

    Location

    approximate location (network-based)
    precise location (GPS and network-based)
    access extra location provider commands

    Photos / Media / Files

    access USB storage filesystem
read the contents of your USB storage
modify or delete the contents of your USB storage

    Storage

read the contents of your USB storage
modify or delete the contents of your USB storage

    Camera

    take pictures and videos

    Microphone

    record audio

    Wi-Fi connection information

    view Wi-Fi connections

    Other

    close other apps
    receive data from Internet
    view network connections
    change system display settings
    change network connectivity
    allow Wi-Fi Multicast reception
    connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi
    control flashlight
    full network access
    change your audio settings
    run at startup
    draw over other apps
    control vibration
    prevent device from sleeping
    modify system settings

For that reason, mine are sitting in the box, until I find an easy way of flashing them with custom firmware..

Have you read permissions that other apps require, just for comparison?

    Sure.
Every app I install, I check the permissions, and install if I'm happy with the cost/benefit.

Call it irrational, but I don't feel like opening up my home network to 'the Chinese' for the sake of turning a few lights on and off.

What information do you think they can take from you? Do you think this app can steal some kind of personal data from you?

Does the list of permissions above not suggest that it can?

    Regarding the smart plugs:

In general, I'd prefer control over IOT devices I add to my network - maybe I'm being over-cautious, and the many articles I've read on the issue are just scaremongering?

    No, it doesn't.

Also bear in mind that this app is available from Google Play. It's not like you're having to go off to some shady site to install.
