Its all a bit of a blank sorry! they lead you through competency by competency - and you give your examples, the follow ups are related to your examples. i think if you really thoroughly prepare your examples then you'll have answers. Use the STAR methodology as much as possible in each answer but it wont work for all follow up questions

Also, I found it hard to determine how the interview was going as my interviewers gave nothing away - so its hard to maintain energy in the face of that. Just keep giving it though as it turns out I was scored highly. If you feel an answer didnt go well just move on from it and concentrate on the next one. every answer scored separately so not the end of the world if one doesnt go so well.
This is how the scoring looks (each one out of 100)

    Leadership :

Judgement, Analysis & Decision Making :

Management and Delivery of Results (including Drive & Committment) :

    Interpersonal & Communication Skills :

Thanks for all this! Do you know what the pass mark is for each? 40/100?

Does anyone know how big the panel from batch 1 is?

    I guesstimate 60 -80
    Estimate 4 panels interviewing 5 or 6 people a day for 6 days or so= 120 / 144 interviewed. With an approx 50% (?) Pass rate.

Ridiculous that they expect you to go to Dublin with a limited time slot to redo a test.

Like seriously how many people will just drop out cos they couldn't be arsed with that. Favouritism for the Dubs.

At least now it looks like you can pick your own day/time. That’s a big improvement to the random allocation of appointments before.

    Suppose.

Just think it is a lot of hassle. Favourites the desperados and after working with those recruited form this panel, that certainly was the case.

If you cant be arsed to pick a time slot and a day and go to Dublin and do the tests, then maybe you arent that fussed about the job?

Hi All, apologies if it's been asked before but has anyone got a link to a good list of potential competency based questions that you might be asked? Appropriate to AP level competency interviews, preferably. thanks!

It's not, first poster with 41 was correct. If we're talking about stage 3, which was my impression.

"I refer to your recent Interview in connection with Stage 3 of the selection process for the above mentioned competition.

    I am pleased to inform you that you have reached the qualifying standard and have been placed on the order of merit for the Dublin Region as follows;

    Open Stream:

    Interdepartmental Stream: (if applicable)

As this round of interviews was only for the Dublin, Kildare and Meath regions, you will recieve your order of merit for any other chosen location (if any), should we reach your place for that region.

The maximum score in each of the competencies was 100 and the qualifying score in each was 41.

Please find below a breakdown of your scores:

Judgement, Analysis & Decision Making :

Management and Delivery of Results (including Drive & Committment) :

    41 out of 100.
Is that a reflection of anything???
It's not a very good score really.

Are marks generally not out of 80 which makes a pass just over 50%?

That's just the passing mark. To get a job from placing on the panel after your interview you'd want to be averaging above 80 in each competency. I averaged 85 in all the competencies in the 2016 one and just about got promoted in my region before the clock ticked down on the panel.

Depends on how you got on with the aptitude tests and e-tray etc.... as in, those in 1.1 and 1.2 would be pretty much guaranteed a job if they get 41 in each of the competencies in the interview.

As far as I've always seen, that's not how it's done, each step of the process is performed and scored completely independently so that the board won't know or be concerned with how well anyone has done in the eTray etc.

You have to reach the required standard in each competency to pass the interview, but obviously the higher you score in each, the higher on the panel you will end up.

Wow, you really don't get it. Let's say I am interviewed in 1.2 and get 41 out of 100 in each competency. 150 are interviewed in total and 75 are brought forward, and I am in 75th place as I scored lowest. Well, I am still going to get appointed, if I wasn't then there would be zero people appointed from Batch two which were invited in for tests in a couple of weeks, because they would have to appoint me before they can move on to batch 2.

If however I scored lower on my etray etc. and ended up in batch 2, and then interviewed and ended up in the very bottom of batch 2, well then maybe I would never get appointed in the two years, as they might not have enough positions to fill, and in that scenario wouldn't need to call a batch 3 as they haven't exhausted those successful in batch 2, i.e. they haven't reached me in last place form the second batch.

In that way, those who do well in the etray etc., such that they are called to interview in the earlier batches, are under less or no pressure to do any better then 41/100, since PAS will definitely called another batch after your batch. Really I guess it mainly affects those in 1.1 and 1.2 with certainty, because perhaps you cannot say they will definitely call a batch 3, though it is likely. But since they just called a batch 2 for testing, those in 1.1 and 1.2 do not need to do better than 41/100 in the interview.

It very much depends on location.
Someone might scrape a pass in Dublin and get a job, while someone in a quiet provincial location could ace an interview and not get anything.

I thought pass rates were established after initial interviews? That's why rates are only published with results?

Or am I mixed up with the initial testing procedures?

Well I was on about 1.1 and 1.2, which contains no regionals.

I averaged 68 in this comp and panelled in the 40s for open stream

I already said it but it was missed, are marks given not out of 80, they were at Stage 2 of the 2016 competition?
