Yesterdays record in the UK has been beaten today. 20.8c in Wales - This temp could still go higher. High was 20.6c yesterday.

yesterday's high was first announced as 20.3, but this was later corrected to 20.6

It's entirely possible that today's 20.8 could be corrected to 21.0C. 20.8 is pretty much 21C anyway. Seriously impressive, that's about 12C above seasonal average.

If this spell was happening exactly as it is but in mid July, I'd love to know if we could have beaten last year's 32C at Shannon.

Best day since October last year here in Dublin, cloudless skies all day. I went on three walks!

Easily the best day since 10th October. Hopefully sunset will be deadly to round it off.

The smoke haze will likely provide a super sunset in many parts of the east this evening.

    Winter 2019 is over lads.

It's bright at 7am, you don't need a jacket going out. It's history.

Good. There is enough warm records being broken around the planet as it is anyway.

Records are only a new thing...these so called "records" will be broken in many places around the world even year after year...100 years + of records is nothing these records being broken all the time prove nothing...the whole "climate change" thing is a joke...the climate has always been changing...its when the climate stops changing then we have a problem...

Yes it's all a joke isn't it lol. In the last 12 months something like 220 warmth records across the globe have been broken compared to 15 cold records. Says it all really.

This is Ireland, we could have 'winter' weather in a couple of days or even a couple of months time!:p

Well then they should go back to calling it "global warming" which they were calling it in the beginning...but then conviently changed it to "climate change" when things weren't going to plan and cold records were being broken instead...

Put your conspiracy theories away. Earth has an atmosphere with a tendency to redistribute heat from place to place by means of the weather. So, when the mean temperature rises, this often displaces cold air further along the conveyor.

Europe has solid cold air masses to our northwest and northeast and Ireland in particular is the country at the most extreme latitude (North or South) on the planet not to have regular snow. All the warm air displaces the cold and makes things colder for us along much of Europe, the southern USA, and others.

The mean temperature, however, is rising indisputably. What's causing it is a different and more complex debate; but the planet is getting warmer.

Denying that or insinuating that it's a big government conspiracy is not only disingenuous to the millions of people who care about it, it's just plain wrong.

If its like this in February, who knows what it will be like by July!!!!

Do you say all the dry weather we had last summer and with the lack of rain this winter has contributed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,714 ✭✭✭giveitholly

We will prob be under water with all the rain that will be falling!!!
