Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

In a significant ruling An Bord Pleanala has blocked plans to begin allowing the conversion of basements to windowless hotel rooms for homeless families.
This is a major blow to Minister Murphy who has championed the continued and expanded use of hotels as a social housing "solution" and has resisted calls to instead provide actual social housing. It will also affect the profits of multi millionaire hotel owners who have been looking at ways to increase profits from the lucrative "Housing crisis"

A view? Maybe access to fresh air and natural light had something to do with it..

Breaking sensible planning laws to accommodate some people isn't a good idea. That would give free reign to every developer to do the same.

OP, i'm unsure if you are supporting this being blocked, or annoyed it has being blocked. Can you please clarify, so I know which direction I must take to oppose you?

Minister Murphy has said that we need to be imaginative and explore innovative solutions to the homeless crisis. Paying hotel owners high room rates to house families in airless windowless basement rooms was one such innovative proposal.
How can be deal with the homelessness crisis when burocrats block a social housing solution that would have made a real difference in meeting social housing commitments.

    Fuck that shit man

Give the penthouses to the wasters

Stick the workers in the basement

Multiple birds with the one stone. Bottomless public purse will shell out top dollar for the penthouse. More profit for the landlord. And the decrease in supply will leave less options for the worker and create further shortage which will increase what can be gouged out of them.
