Very good and solid, good work rate and good set piece the same as he always is, very consistent player not the most dynamic but will have a good pro career.. very stupid of us to let him go imo

Wouldn’t be surprised to see him back.

    Good stuff.
Yes I completely agree. Maybe he could be enticed back next season if he doesn't get a decent deal elsewhere

Bealham released from the extended Ireland squad.

Pity for Finlay but a boost for us to have him available in September/October. Hopefully the time in camp and the cut will have motivated and playing well.

Very disappointing after last season not to have one Connacht forward going to Japan.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Dillane, Roux or Bealham out there before the group stage is over.

    Bealham maybe.
There's still an extra lock there so they might be ahead of Roux and Dilane.

For sure, the upside is Connacht will have the best pack or close to it in the league at the start of the season.

Rory Burke, John Porch, Seán Masterson and SOB III all with the squad in Oyonnax. Dillane and Bealham are also both with them.

    Some notable omissions:

    Shane Delahunt
    Paddy MacAllister
    Quinn Roux
    Stephen Kerrins
    Stephen Fitzgerald

Given that there is no injury update it may be that these players have a knock. Other than that it's probably pretty much what you'd expect

I wonder is all right with Quin. He was suffering with a virus from around March until the end of the season that seemed concerning.
Hope it's not still an issue

I have a feeling he needs to bulk back up. That virus took a long time to shake so he probably lost a lot of weight/mass

Conan O'Donnell scored again for Counties Manaku this morning.
I see somebody already mentioned it in the General rugby section.

That’s Matthew Burke, Rory is on the bench. Interesting to see Boyle at 7 and Masterson at 6.

Only on twitter. Nil all after fourteen minutes. Only thing of note I took from
it so far was that Horwitz apparently made huge ground with one penalty, kicking it from just outside 10m line into their 22. I know he didn’t get many opportunities last season but thought his touch kicking was average when he did so that sounds positive enough given Carty is likely Japan bound.

Bealham on at loosehead apparently, wonder is that at Joes request.

    Paging Connachta for report....

Hard to take too much from a friendly win over D2 side but guess given their season starts next week it’s a decent result.
