McAllister looked like a nasty knock, Toh and Healy went off injured too. Faingaa, Copeland, sob and leader were injured previously

Aki's ban down from 6 weeks to 3. Still misses the rest of the World Cup. Does this exclude him from Connaught matches as well?

    Back for Leinster match so

Or can Connacht schedule three matches this week so Ireland can have him back?

It's actually a 3 week ban. If Ireland lose at the weekend the next two weeks are served as a Connacht player. Two weeks where he probably wouldn't have been involved anyway.

I'd think so, but he has to rest under IRFU rules anyway,

3 weeks holidays (probably in N-Z with his family) are just what he should need to be fresh and gazing for Champions Cup

Only "bad point" is he should miss Leinster game

Maguire's not even in the academy. Hopefully the Craggy Rugby lads will have some good news for us during the week.

Connacht have a week off this week, so there will be no official update on injuries until next Tuesday, Oct 22nd. The initial issue with McAllister is that it is a knee injury, but the extent won't be known for a couple of days.

It looked nasty enough tbh, seen a few similar injuries that were the MCL which is usually 6 weeks. No physio though and could have looked worse than it actually was

So if Ireland lose this weekend Bundee will miss 2 more games. So he will be available for Leinster?

Yeah he’ll be available for Leinster no matter what. Edit: Well he won’t be banned. Presuming he stays with squad in Japan, in the unlikely event of an Ireland victory this weekend, he probably wouldn’t be available in practice as Ireland’s final game (whether third place playoff or final) would be the weekend before Leinster game.

Oh right, I was self-convinced Cheetahs game was this week so "wouldn't count". All good news then.
3 weeks in N-Z, one week trainning, and roll on Leinster, Montpellier and Gloucester!

Change nothing for Connacht IMO because of rest & recovery protocols. Just feel a bit for Bundee vs his country of youth...

Just realised earlier on that as Cheetahs are in other conference we only have one game against this season, no harm not to have to visit Bloemfontein based on the hidings they have been given out over there so far, even against RWC affected teams.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,965 ✭✭✭connachta

    So
    1) Buckley
    17) M.Burke
24th man Murphy/Heffernan if McCartney has to slot in as sub LH during warn-up

    11) Godwin
    22) Horwitz (we can't take the risk to have Godwin covering wing, centre AND outhalf)
    23) Niyi
    25th man Peter Sullivan

(if none of Healy, McAllister, Leader and TOH is available)

And if back, against Saffers I'd add some beef in the pack with Copeland/SOB instead of Masterson

If Adeolokun is available just start him rather than moving Godwin. Porch struggled against Dragons in defence, not ideal to have to be starting him (if that is the case) but hopefully it’s just transitioning from sevens and he can pick it up quickly.

Eoghan Masterson has had very good start to season, playing the best he has since coming back from that injury, wouldn’t be dropping him.

So O'Halloran had knee surgery, McAllister surgery or not, is out for a while. But at least "Try scorer Matt Healy was taken off with a back spasm, but is expected to be fully fit."

    So
    11 Healy
    12 Robb
    13 Godwin (covering 10)
    14 Porsh
    15 Fitzg
    22 Farrell
    23 Niyi

Where are you getting that from Connachta in relation to surgeries?

Same source. Surgery for TOH, waiting for the scan results for McAllister. Don't see him back for ChampionsCup. Burke under huge expectations now...

Back to real rugby this week. A tonic after Saturday. What do we think? Cheetahs have been flying at home, Pienaar has them really motoring. Reminiscent of our start to the season in 2015-16. A good bet for the playoffs IMO. Think we need to be on top of our game and dominate possession to win this one, we absolutely cannot afford to let them have any sort of parity up front.

13 games on the trot, an insane schedule, so let's hope for any sort of a win and no injuries.

First time I’m hoping the weather is **** for a trip to the sportsground.

Yeah Cheetahs have been very good but would fancy Connacht in a forwards oriented battle. This is their first game with a new coaching setup as Franco Smith has left to coach Italy/assist O’Shea, not sure which.

Suppose the XV won’t change much bar injury enforced. Are Leader and Adeolokun available? Running low on back three options.

The upside of Wales winning yesterday is Ospreys will be without all their internationals next week. It will be Aki’s last game of ban but Ireland are only flying back tomorrow so don’t think himself or Carty would have been involved anyway.

Might see them back involved against Leinster, it’s not much of a break given they have been more or less on the go since June last year but with Europe starting the week after, can’t really give them too long. At least none of them were over exerted in Japan from a Connacht perspective I suppose.

Just as random info, Eoin Reddan was very complimentary about Connacht of 2016 on Second Captains around a discussion on whether Ireland could play attacking rugby. ‘People were laughing at them in the depths of winter for trying to play it, in December they were getting absolutely ridiculed and they showed up in may twenty five degrees in Edinburgh and ran us off the park. It was like a different type of game than I had played against’

Looks good. Who's throwing the slaps 4 seconds in. Quinn looks to be involved anyway. Hard to tell on my phone screen.

Was actually trying to make that out myself. It's definitely Quinn Roux and the other person is wearing a scrum cap. I've haven't seen a definitive look at it but my best guess would be James Conolly
