She was mentioned earlier in the week. And unfairly negatively in my subjective opinion. Tickets for Sinead O'Connor's first gigs in four years on sale tomorrow morning. Venues are intimate bar Vicar St (only 280 capacity in the Roisin Dubh) and she could easily do a larger Dublin show.

So could she be in the announcement after her tour sells out? Always happy to see Sinead.

And given the new albums coming out can we also please have Wilco, Girl Band & The Murder Capital?

In other news, my EP replacement theraphy continues apace; I saw Christine and the Queens in Brussels Summer Festival last night.

I went in more or less cold as I hadnt really listened to much bar the one or two songs that were floating about at the time of her cancelled Irish gig. I have to say I was very, ery impressed and if I had been a bit drunker Id have been blown away.

She put on a mighty stage show with a troupe of dancers, pyrotechnics and a moving rig. Not sure if all of that will go to EP, but if it does you guys will be in for a treat.

I might suggest that while one is training on a treadmill with a bag of cans in each hand, that maybe an auld linguaphone tape on your walkman, to brush up on leaving cert French, would be a solid investment.

Anyways, Im off to see how Ian McColloughs voice is holding up tonight and will report back.

Saw her a few years ago at longitude, before it went sh**e, and she was amazing. On my must see list as long as no clash with EATB

Dunno about Sinead - she's unpredictable. Girl Band kept emphasising that the Vicar Street shows later in the year are their only Irish shows this year so I'd put both in the "hopefully but not likely" category tbh. Neither can be totally ruled out but I'd guess the shows later in the year would be their lot.

Wilco is still filed under "WHAT THE **** JEFF?! STOP SKIPPING IRELAND!" bracket too.

Murder Capital is surely nailed on, though? Saw a few minutes at ATN, was impressed with the sound and the presence but they've only got 3 decent songs IMO, I don't totally by the fuss... Still, fun in the right setting!

Id love to see Sinead O conner tbh. Her joining John grant on stage at EP a few years ago was a moment

This Tap house, does it not sound like a way of sucking more money out of us? having to tap(pay) to get into different areas?

    Very unlikely.

Edit: now i re-read .. hmm yes it could be .. "unlocking new festival experiences" ... how about fvcking right off!

Alas I think you're right re Girl Band.

Tweedy played Vicar St last year but no Wilco show since Iveagh Gardens in 2016. And no EP for 11 years. My fave band so if they play then nothing else on the lineup matters for me. And their tour dates align.

Agree re the lack of tunes for TMC but hopefully they'll evolve. What they have now is the sound. And that's enough for me at the moment.

Maybe I'm being too cynical but

"On-site, the AIB Tap House is a new fully contactless festival area, where experiences are unlocked by tapping with contactless card or mobile pay."

it sounds like that to me!

My absolute highlight of that weekend when she did Glacier. Missed much of Bjork to see Grant. I enjoyed it even more than David Byrne & St Vincent though that won't go down well here.

Tap House usually implies craft beer. Though not previously thought to be an AIB specialisation.

If craft beer is the experience I can unlock by tapping, yeah fine.

At kaleidoscope aid had a wristband that could be loaded with cash and then used to pay for things at the festival. Assumed this was the same thing so didnt read announcement fully. Now that i look at this thread suspect it is something more money grabbing. Alas its not all about the music any more

I think "Green and Blue" sounds like Editors. But people are very excited about them so hope the album is good. Fontaines was a little disappointing for me so would like TMC to stick the landing.

"Tap house" from a bank suggests standard bar but contactless payment only - i.e, you can only tap, right?

At the end of this (John Grant) set, I turned to a stranger beside me and said "That is the best thing I have seen all weekend".

Young lady responded "That is the best thing I have seen in my life"

Not expecting great things from TMC album nor blown away by the Fontaines one. Just hoping the record companies give both get a chance to do 2/3 more and develop along the way.

And I wasn't entirely serious about the AIB/craft beer synchronicity.

NOTE: seeing a lot of hand trucks with pneumatic tyres - false economy lads. Solid wheels are the money melon here - you don't want to risk a flat half-way to the campsite - plus the pneumatic tyres cause more jostling of the load. Grand for going over grass, but dodgy for paths.

Been using a sack truck with pneumatic tyres for years. Never seen anyone get a puncture in all that time, and jostling isn’t any problem - on paths, grass, and particularly - muck, where everything else comes a cropper. Buy and forget your festival load transfer nightmares for ever. Wheelbarrow is probably even better, but a bit of an ask to throw in the back of a car.

Hear! Hear! Pneumatic is not going to burst (please don't let it). It's all to do with how firmly you inflate--too much and the truck will bounce (put yer mate on it at this point to dampen down!)
P.S. For those with small boots (car), Woodies are doing a collapsible one at the moment. I take no responsibility for its worthiness or not.

I was at ATN with one, but didn't get to use it, since I loaned it out to my passengers. I was informed after that it doubles up nicely into a table for the weekend in the tent! Voila!
