1975 not for me but I'd still say they are a pretty big act.

Completely forgot about them, the more of them I've watched on youtube, the less interested I am in them (less than zero tbh) but they're headlining Reading/Leeds too (which is still a much larger festival in terms of attendance).

My initial try to see is
    Billy The Fish
    Christine and the queens
    Jarvis
Richard Ashcroft (with reservations, depends who's on at same time)
    Johnny Marr
    Streets
    Courtney Barnet
    Echo & Bunnymen
    Michael Kiwanuko
    Let's Eat Grandma
    Maverick Sabre
    Duff McKagen
    The Lovely Cathy
    KKC
    Róisín Murphy

Honestly have not had the time to check out the rest of the ones playing so will be trying to get some listening in over the next week to see what nibbles my fancy but usual looking for stuff at Salty Dog and Trailer Park for funs.

Have the Foos this week too so they will be sapping my precious bodily fluids in the mean time.

Give it up, he's not playing this year, some year we'll get him, and when he lashes out wagon wheel it'll be epic.

I was referring more to the Chemical Brothers or Underworld, Aphex doesn't do last minute announcements really, usually 6 to 3 months in advance, 2 months in the case of the Manchester and London gigs in September.

Similar to mine, if you're looking for something new, Metronomy, Bodega, Just Mustard and Parquet Courts, all a bit different from each other but all well worth checking out.

So I presume there'll be somewhere that'll show the all Ireland final on the Sunday (don't personally care), think the hurling was on the last time I went, previous year they showed an Ireland soccer game, but what are the chances that there'll be somewhere to watch the Ireland rugby game on the Saturday?

Usually there's two places in the Mindfield area the Gaelic tent and Newstalk FM tent that show the final, mind ya that was two years ago so I don't know for last year.

The local pubs kicked up over Elites showing it 2 years ago so there was no big screen for it last year.

It’s one of the faqs on page 1.

Pubs in Stradbally are your best bet. The Newstalk tent in mind field has a TV but gets very crowded.

Alternatively, just forget about sport for the weekend? And the football isn’t sport any more, it’s just a GAA experiment gone wrong.

I'd say you could nearly count on your hands the number making money exclusively from music. Just have to hope that the likes of We Cut Corners, Ships, etc who have other jobs outside the music continue to release good stuff when they can, and that a few more like Fontaines, etc can rise to the top and actually make money off the music too.

FFS people - go to gigs, buy some merch and pay for a bloody vinyl or all we'll have left is Gavin f*cking James!!!

    *rant over*

You are preaching to the converted on here.

I don't want to watch the all Ireland, I was wondering would there be somewhere to check in on the Ireland match on the Saturday if I've a few spare minutes

Put together a list - almost 40 odd acts that I would go see. If I see my "must see's" and another 8-10 from the list, then I should be a happy camper over the weekend!

    Must See
    The Strokes - - - Courtney Barnett - - - Parquet Courts - - - Echo & The Bunnymen - - - Mitski - - - Johnny Marr

    Hope To See
    Jarv IS - - - The Streets - - - Lets Eat Grandma - - - Sports Team - - -
    Viagra Boys - - - Bodega - - - King Kong Company - - - These Charming Men - - - The Salty Dog No Stars’ Play Lou Reeds ‘Transformer’ - - -
    Junior Brother - - - Touts - - - Sons Of Kemet

Will see if nothing else on
    Metronomy - - - Roisin Murphy - - - Michael Kiwanuka - - - Richard Ashcroft - - - Silverbacks - - - White Reaper - - - Working Mens Club - - - Otherkin - - - Moxie - - - The Scratch - - - Jinx Lennon - - -Kneecap
    International Teachers Of Pop - - - Æ Mak - - - Thumper - - - Foil Arms And Hog - - - David O’Doherty - - - Abandoman - - -

Newstalk show any significant games so likely they’ll have it on. Gets crowded though and if you leave for the toilet you’ll have to queue again. Better off walking 15 mins to the village and giving their pubs some business.

Scrolling through the EP banter page and I see the logic stage is back, Mark McCabe playing on the Saturday night should keep all the dance fans happy. 🕺😆

    Love seeing everyone’s lists :)

Lots of crossover with my own plans however no-one at all interested in Sasami which has me quite surprised... serious whiff of late 80s / early 90s UK indie rock off them, which I’m confident a number of us on here grew up on...

Lads did someone say Heavy lungs supported Idles at Vicar Street? Anyone see them? Are they worth a look? Not feeling it at the moment but I'm open to persuasion.

Twas Crows in Vicar at, heavy lungs was the support in button factory I think. Crows were great, can't remember if I saw Heavy Lungs, sorry.

Lesser explored EP pockets of happiness pt. 37. I love ambling and then ambling some more around the arena of a Friday afternoon waiting for the madness to descend...then always manage to find myself a spot on a comfy settee in the Newstalk tent for Seán Moncrieff’s live Friday broadcast, mainly for the fact that he always seems to have a wine expert on and there are some lovely free samples floating about. It has become a bit of a tradition now and sets me up rightly for the craziness.

That sounds like a good way to start EP. Newstalk schedule lists his show as 2-4. That about right? I thought the main arena only opened about 3/4 or has that changed?

Edit - checked and open at 2pm.

Darzog's tip includes free wine. Cue the entire Boards thread arriving at the Newstalk tent at the same time...

I like to start with Kinara Kitchen on a Friday. Always less of a queue than later in the weekend and the best food on site as far as I'm concerned.

Is the Newstalk setup within Mindfield ?
