    Freetown is baffling me tbh

Hot Press new issue has Strokes for Sat & FATM for Sun. Surely definitive?

Has the site map ever been more eagerly awaited?

Stillill42, am at yet another post-punk crew right now. Slyrydes from Galway, free gig for third single release Out Patience. Paul Noone & Nialler9 major fans. You'd love 'em. Will ask after if they grabbed a small Picnic slot. We're heading for an era of an entire festival made up of Curtis and Magazine fans.

Fair play, Seathrun. I'd say if the day comes when you fail to show for a gig in the wider Galway area, they'll just pack up and go home. That post punk tent begins to take shape.

Three songs is a cruel game so two lists calm and not so calm (still not enough)

    Calm
    EATB Rust
    Michael Kiwanuka cold little heart
    In their thousands acrasia

    Not so calm
    Kid karate two times
    Otherkin Ay Ay
    Pillow Queens puppets

Echo and the Bunnymen - The Cutter.
Johnny Marr- There is a light that never goes out.
    Metronomy- Night owl.
    The Streets- Weak Become Heroes

Good idea to get some excitement going. Three songs for me:

Ask me after the weekend and it will probably be completely different songs which were the highlights!

Have to agree with Stillill, lots of people eagerly awaiting the map more so than usual tomorrow. Possible changes that I can think of: + Freetown, + Spike Island, + Made by Music, - Little Big Tent, - Other Voices, possible movement of the arena barrier..

If Salty Dog is indeed in the arena I really can't see how they will do it. It is essentially located at the main crossroads of the entire festival with paths leading to the arena, the entrance/Pink Moon, Trenchtown and then the campsites. How would someone get from the Paintball entrance to any of the normal campsites without going through the Salty Dog junction? Is it a possibility that they could physically move the Salty Dog pirate ship to somewhere else or is it there permanently?

I guess all will be revealed tomorrow..

Ha. Some truth in that. I have missed a few Monday night Bodhrandude gigs though but I did catch two. Recommended. More in the near future.

The new 1975 song & video is great, looking forward to catching them.

Wasn’t a fan until the last album just never really gave their music a go but the recent stuff is definitely worthy of the acclaim.

The Strokes - Hard to Explain

Johnny ****ing Marr - This Charming Man

Echo & the Bunnymen - Killing Moon

** 'Weak become Heroes' is a brilliant shout too. **

Here you go boys and girls.... SITE MAP!

Mod edit: this is a production site map, with locations of things like gas tanks, generators, security entrances etc - not for the public. This usually get's shared in previous years and the organisers reach out for obvious reasons - so i've removed it.

Please don't ask for it to be sent via PM either.

Official site map will be out soon!

One thing for sure either way, salty dog is inside the arena, Oscar Wilde moved to the west, and there's an overflow camping site now it seems?

So, no BYOB to Salty Dog?

    That's pretty appalling, no?

Today FM have the map up on their site.

    They've also said the below:

THE MUCH LOVED OSCAR WILDE CAMPSITE LOCATION HAS BEEN MOVED TO MAKE WAY FOR A BRAND SPANKING NEW AREA CALLED 'FREETOWN.'

This area will house a massive new music tent playing big name DJs and a cabaret stage.

The full line up for this new area will be announced later on today (Friday) by Electric Picnic organisers, check back here for all the latest updates.

Looks like pretty much everything outside the campsites is inside the main arena?? Or am I just reading this wrong?

    That's correct.

No BYOB stages any more, not by my reading anyway

So there's still a chance that the Freetown announcement will have a big name (by OUR standards), even if it's only a DJ set.
At this stage the best I'm hoping for is Bicep. Please.

  • Registered Users Posts: 28,196 ✭✭✭✭drunkmonkey

Never heard of bicep so I'd say it's a bit bigger. It's a terrible name.

They’re pretty big in dance circles. Probably the biggest names in Irish dance music
