Ye reckon? Pretty uninspiring to a lot of people i'd wager. Prefer something a bit mad like the 1975.

I'd wager this post was in jest and a few fell for it??

Really hope it isn't FATM or The 1975 (but didn't they play last year). Not long to go to find out anyway. Only a month a bit.... *taps foot impatiently*.

Didn't FATM headline in 2015? Don't think it's completely beyond the bounds of possibility that she would headline again

First off - apologies to all the hardcore fans for the following - I hope ye don't mind it clogging up the thread!

First time going to EP this year and bringing the kids with us. We have a family camper-van ticket. I kind of panicked when the tickets came out (based on stories of the family tickets selling very fast previously) and bought the camper-van ticket too.

    My queries please:

    - The family tickets (which are separate to the camper-van tickets) allow us to just camp as normal if we don't bring a camper-van?
    - If we do bring the camper-van are they strict on the no awning/no tent rule beside the camper-vans?
    - The kids will be 4, 6 and 8 so any tips from people with similar aged kids who have been there would be great.

    Thanks.

Cant help you on the family stuff, but 98% of caravans and campers have an awning up and lots of tents spring up later in the evening!

If you have family camping tickets they grant you access to the family site (as long as you have your children with you) and the regular campsites. Bringing kids into the regular sites is not preferable of course.

Ive had my two kids to the past 5 Picnics and we're going again this year.

    - Larger the tent the better

    - Ear defenders are an absolute must

    - Clothes for all weathers, and it gets very cold at night so bear that in mind
    - Waterproof picnic blanket
    - Festival cart (arro.ie !) this will assist with bringing stuff like your tent into the site, and then can carry the kids around site when youre there

    - Tonnes of games/sweets/treats/colouring to keep little people occupied

DM me for any other queries mate. And good luck.

Id prefer not to go to EP this year but will probably get tickets if Tame Impala are added. Hopefully its only Florence Against the Machine and the 1984s or whoever. Gavin James, Kodaline, Snore Patrol etc would fill out the bill nicely. *evil laugh*

Hopefully the state of the tickets isn't a precursor to a cheap as chips line up

Kodaline are playing st. Annes park 31may&1june.
Snore Patrol Malahide June 7th. What a week of music!! You could switch the band members, would anyone notice :)

Milan is only a 2odd hour flight, so entirely possible fatm and 1975's could be added, personally that would be a disappointment!

I have to be honest really liked fatm's first album she played a packed EA 6pm on a Sunday possibly 2008 just on the cusp of being widely known, it was a great gig.

Really hoping for Tame Impala ;)

I always wondered how to logistics of moving a band and all their equipment works.

It's not as simple as jumping on a two hour flight in most cases, equipment trucks and coaches having to travel by land or ferry.

Or in some cases do they just fly regular flights and rent out equipment locally. I imagine in the case of FATM and 1975 it wouldn't be as easy as hopping on a flight with all that specialised equipment, roadies and everything else that comes with a touring band.

I met Biffy Clyro getting the flight I was on, perhaps they rent amps/drums/pedals in the destination country and fly with guitars?

Need to see an announcement so I can be really disappointed with headliners rather than now where I am hoping we are all wrong. 1975s are awful FATM have a few decent tunes but not enough to entice me. Tame Impala and some decent sub headliners will make it all good

Any chance a new batch of tickets come with the announcement? Missed them for this year because they were so early didn't have the money.

Not sure about bands that size but I think U2 had 3 sets when in Europe so the next one was somewhere else being set up while they were playing in a different country. So they might have stuff on the move in advance

I'd be very surprised if they didn't play EP. There's a history there so expect a surprise set at Jerry Fish or Other Voices.

dunno, according to the ATN announcement
its the only Irish festival appearance this year

"We are delighted to announce Irelands very own Fontaines D.C. will be performing their only Irish festival of the year at All Together Now 2019 to coincide with the band's announcement of their debut album ‘Dogrel’ due out to be released 12th April 2019."

They are promoting an album so they'll probably do a nationwide tour in all the cities anyway as in, standalone gigs.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

It's very clear indeed so way way they'd be officially announced. But The Cure did Hyde Park last year as a European exclusive then played the Meltdown festival calling themselves by another name. If the Fontaines turned up in a surprise slot and billed themselves otherwise they'd not be breaking any contract. If they're not touring in late August then I'd expect them in one of the tents. But hey, I realise I could be way off.

Orbital playing an Irish exclusive at the Galway Arts Fest on 27 July so that's them out of EP.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,539 ✭✭✭ghostdancer

maybe Orbital could play a surprise set in the Rave in the Woods under the name "The Hartnoll Brothers"?

Galway Arts Fest has had some great acts the last few years.

Was it last year they had Caribou and the Flaming Lips?

Always worth keeping an eye out for!

What if EP just added them after ATN is finished, would ATN punters then be entitled to some sort of refund?

Maybe ATN paid them extra to commit exclusively to them.

I'd say definitely not. Even when major acts pull out of festivals there isn't a refund. Think it probably will be only summer gig but if added to EP they could always just say EP is in Autumn or some other loophole.
