I thought they put on a good show, albeit that I knew nothing about them beforehand. She had a great voice but it wasn't party music. The problem I suppose is that they were on the mainstage around 10 o'clock on the Friday, when they should have been in a tent on the Sunday evening.

It was a calm and clear Friday evening and her voice was incredible. I found it all very atmospheric.

Would love that but it happens very rarely. They never toured the Mermaid Avenue albums (some bad blood during recording) but Billy has joined them onstage the odd time. Last one I think was at the Newport Festival in 2017 so there's hope yet.

Wilco my fave band. Make it happen EP.

They might end up in the Body & Soul Festival bill, as they are playing a Spanish festival that same weekend.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

I'm gonna be absolutely stunned if Hozier isnt at EP. It seemed a dead cert even before that tour announcement but now...

I wouldn't be surprised if they do wait until the second/third announcement in June/July to add him though. He has outdoor shows in Belfast, Cork and Dublin (I think) in June and EP like to put a big/popular name into the second or third announcements to get a nice press boost - Picture This last year, I believe.

Wilco would be a decent shout. Caught them in the Iveagh Gardens a few years ago. Nice show but would be much happier to see them indoors if I was to go again.

Yup say they will wait til those shows are either sold out or been and gone. Was it last year Mavis Staples played main stage and he showed up to do a few songs with her? Guess with a 2nd album he could potentially be on earlier in evening on main stage

I had never heard of Twenty One Pilots until a few weeks ago but starting to think they must be in the mix, headlining a lot of festivals around EP and playing a sold out show in the 3Arena a few days before the announcement. Are they popular enough here to headline?

Yes I'd say they are. Probably one of the biggest alternative bands out there at the moment.

I'm going to see them in a few weeks in the 3Arena myself and I believe that sold out in less than an hour.

100% they are big enough, they’ve sold out wembley three times over and headlining all over Europe.

Mass cult following (including me) but definitely not for everyone. I know more people who hate them then like them. They put on some show though.

Nobody has heard of them but if haven’t heard the song Stressed Out I’d be shocked

Don't get the appeal at all tbh.

Yeah not into it at all myself. They sound like Macklemore to me. But just had a look at their tour dates there and they are sold out all over Europe so obviously extremely popular, they must be contenders to headline as they are playing Sziget, Lowlands, Reading/Leeds & Lollapolooza Berlin and are free the weekend of EP.

Myself and all my friends have defected to ATN this year and my fear is 21p and tame impala being announced as headliners and some awesome 80s acts being announced and I’ll have some seriously hard decisions to make.

I was all ready to defect as well but at the end of the day
the line-up of ATN was seriously light last year IMO.
so i've stuck with EP for another year
all the talk of too many kids, commercialisation, lineup shifting etc etc
didnt really bother me that much last year, i had a great time as always
I have a better time every year to be honest
Migth try do both if the ATN lineup is decent

I did both last year and had a ball. Signed up for the 2 again this year. ATN great but has if anything made me appreciate EP even more.

ATN is the one for me this year, lineup was good last year but obviously not a patch on EP. Just think this sounds a more manageable size, free flow drink policy and a bit closer to home.

What's that "free flow drink policy" your on about....

Do you think the fabulous weather had a bearing on the romance of ATN last year? I heard talk that it may have been a very different affair if it was wet, with people saying the amount of slopes on the site would be difficult if it was soaking wet and also people saying there were lots of potential flood spots beacuse of the lay of the land, any thoughts?
theres a lineup announcement soon isnt there?
    cheers

I mean, TBF, every festival experience is probably at least partly coloured by weather. I've had great weekends in the sun and rain - but it definitely helps when it's dry!

Line up announcement for ATN is Feb 19th. Fontaines DC and the National have been announced already and, according to the ATN thread, King Kong Company confirmed themselves already.

Of course it played a role. Brand new festival, sun splitting the stones..everyone was delighted with themselves. I'm not going down that road , speculating on what if's. The concerns about the site are legitimate. It was beautiful but hilly and sure, a lot of rain might bring issues.

They've upped the capacity this year and will necessarily have to rejig parts of the layout this time out, so we'll see. They've shown they're willing to listen to feedback, commenting already on issues with transport links last year.

They got far more right than they got wrong last year so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. It was a blast last year so I'll wait till they give me a reason to doubt them. I heartily recommend it. Line-up out next week so you'll have a better idea then.

Cigarettes after sex were almost comatose last year.

Totally agree cigarettes after sex was mind numbingly boring. Also David kitt 2 or 3 years ago was awful it was like he didn't want to be there. Saw him last year in other voices was much better.

He was there 2 years ago but I don't think he was performing that weekend, he was just sipping cans in a hoodie near the sound stage during LCD Soundsystem. Friendly guy!

Most boring acts ive seen at EP: Interpol in 2011 - no interest in the band, dragged along, hated it. Shouldve gone back to the tent for more cans.
Dj Shadow in 2011. Really looking forward to him but he played bastardised versions of his own stuff melded horribly to drum and bass beats. Dull from start to finish, despite playing in a light up onion.

Daniel Avery nicely placed at End of the Road festival same weekend as EP

Wouldn't joke too much about that. If the brits go full retard it could cause a lot of issues for festivals and events here.
