Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fireplace in new build

If you have a new build with an electric fireplace and no chimney, is there any way to install a solid fuel burning fireplace?

Failing that can a gas one with real flames be installed somehow?

    Thanks

You'll need to put in a flue/chimney to burn solid fuel.

Super Ser type gas heaters don't need a chimney but I wouldn't recommend one - you're better off with the electricity.

Is it for heat or just looks?

Reason im asking is If you have a new airtight build, you really dont want to go messing with that.
It will change a cozy draft free room to the one thats not as comfortable.

For looks and ambience. We've always loved having a fire going in winter.

I believe stoves now don't let so much heat out so I'd consider something like that instead of an inefficient regular fireplace.

You could put in a stove and run the flue on the outside wall in stainless steel or black enamel
