So I sent an email to the above and lo and behold they want me to ring some 0818 premium number (not included in normal minutes).

Eir, can you pull the finger out and start offering proper customer service.

I am happy to do this over email or chat but cannot do it over phone.

    Please oblige.

    Thank you

Edit: got my wife to ring and a wait time of over 5 minutes.

Come on eir, this is all a bit poor.

Unfortunately, this is the only number we have for this team and they can be busy at times.

I'm sorry it's not better news.

    Thanks

So 5 minutes on online chat to an Indian rep who tells me eir don't send out viewing cards.
    Aliff was his name.

    This is just embarassing eir.

    Hi Tracey,

Im after emailing cs@eirsports.ie as I also require the card to be paired. Whatever happened in the last couple of weeks with the Eir channels (perhaps the upgrading to HD of one of the channels) has left me that I cant get the Eir or Bt sports channels. Have you any idea when I can expect to have the card paired? Thanks

I had to leave work early to ring that number.
Finally got through to someone and a card will be sent out.

I have to ring again to activate the card.

Eir, I wouldn't even be doing this if you allowed existing customers to have unlimited broadband.

Thank you to the reps who replied.

The reps in India were clueless as usual.

    No problem Tigerandahalf,

We have relayed your feedback in relatuion to the broadband allowance and at the moment this is currently under review.

    Thanks,

    Sarah

Too late Sarah I am afraid. I have had to pay upto €100 buying a sky box, remote, and other bits so I won't go over the download limit.

I really think you need to allow eir/bt sports streaming to be excluded from download amounts.

So 2 phone calls later I have the box set up with the viewing card.
The 2 calls combined took over 40 minutes. The call number is a premium number (upto 50c a minute) so my next bill could have an additional €30 plus in order to get this sorted.

I set the box up in the bedroom away from noise with the idea of moving it into the sitting room later. However I was told by the rep that I can't do this as the box will unpair the card if the box is unplugged.

    Is this the case?
Beginning to feel I shouldn't have bothered doing this.

    Have you actually done it?
I don't fancy having to ring up again.
Btw will the sky box revert to uk epg now?

just leave the card in the box, unplug, move , plug back in and wait for box  to initialise,  it takes about 5 mins turn on with remote and bobs your uncle. and yes I have done it loads of times.

You can pair the card yourself.
connect the box to internet or phone line & go into the installers menu & do a new install

Unless he subscribes to Sky then he wont be able to pair the card without calling the Setanta Eir sports cs team

I've paired the card like that plenty of times with no sky subscription.

Lol, really? Sky HD boxes are generally next to free, loads of people giving them away.

    Sky box plus remote
    Satellite signal splitter
Calling their premium number (for 40 mins)

Tried that myself a few days ago but couldn't do it because I'm not a Sky subscriber

This is quite straight forward. Done it many times.A sky box on eBay is about 30 euro.
Plug in the card. Connect the box to the internet and pair it using the link above. https://skyepginfo.co.uk/HowToGuides/New-Installation.php
You don't need a sky subscription.
