OOM from 450 to 550 or there about I think?

I was higher than 550 and got my results two weeks ago.

Had my interview today, wasn't that bad but definitely have a good few examples for the competencies. Each members questions kind of cross over , I was asked for 6 examples, 2 from each member of the panel.
Happy to help with any queries if people want to pm me.

    Good luck to everyone

Does anyone know if form B gets sent to Garda HQ regardless of whether you pass or fail the interview?

Hey guys, congrats to everyone who had their interviews! I hope you all get the news you were looking for. As I'm preparing for mine my question is about the abstract questions. What type of "odd questions" were you asked? That's different from the competencies?

Mine were all directly related to the competencies and form A.

Had my interview last week. When do people reckon we will get the interview results for batch two?

Going by my results. I had my interview 17th Sept and got my results 2nd Oct so was just the 2 weeks waiting time.

I have mine next week, 13th, so I'd say I will have an excruciating wait until the new year!

I've seen it mentioned that we have to buy PE gear and parade shoes etc. which set us back approx €250 and not paid for the 1st week until week 2. Just a heads up for people to put away a few bob to be prepared. Also it might be good to get a laptop sorted beforehand too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,676 ✭✭✭✭Witcher

Ya wont need parade shoes for about 6 weeks until you get the uniform, 7/8 weeks really, your induction week isn't counted. Judo suit isnt needed until about week 12.

All you'll need to buy the first week (induction) is the tracksuit because you'll be doing first aid etc.

During stage 2 the Sergeant gave a brief about expected wait times, he said this group would be looking at the end of 2019 for a start date in Templemore.

And on a post I saw in relation to intake of 2018 candidates it is expected for Mid 2019. So I dunno.

This has been answered a few times now, it's the Tuesday after the last person in your batch gets interviewed. So some people will be waiting 2 business days, while others will be waiting 3 weeks.

The first intake we are eligible for is the second quarter of 2019, so April intake the earliest. Whether many, or any, will have everything signed off is anyone's guess, but most people from the 2018 campaign are looking at summer 2019 to summer 2020. A lucky few will get in before that, and an unlucky others will be waiting longer.
A lot will depend on your vetting, and obviously the medical and physical are the final hurdles on our part. The sergeant told me at my meeting that a good bit of my vetting has already been done so I'd imagine a lot of the first batch are in the same boat. However, it only takes one person on your list to delay your application. I also think I'll be failing the eye test, which will delay me up to 6 months.

I have 1 person on my vetting that lives in the US now. It's my ex husbands brother. Do you reckon that'll delay my vetting much? Everyone else is in Kerry/Limerick.

You could get the laser eye surgery done while you wait for your medical. Even if you elect for the PRK the recovery should only be 1 week.

Not a clue, but by the sounds of things all your relatives in Ireland are nearly done in 1 sitting, assuming there's no problems of course.

Aye, I could, but I'm not too keen on forking out the money if it's not necessary, not at this stage of my life anyway when I've a house and everything else to be worrying about. I'll play by ear for the moment. I've a career where I am so me being delayed wouldn't be the worst thing anyway.

You don't put down ex partners family I thought, just current partners.

For those that have been successful at interview, how long was it till you were told what the next stage was for you and what was it ?

I'm still technically married (not divorced/separated) yet so I had to put them down.

Ah sorry, hopefully it doesn't take to long on the checks, my family are spread across England so I'm expecting delays if my application gets that far

Well done to those who passed. I have mine tomorrow, I have never in my life been so nervous!

  • Registered Users Posts: 76 ✭✭Smallboy

Hey people, interview tomorrow super nervous! I heard a rumor that when the board asks you a question you need to try talk for 4 minutes on each question asked. At most I can maybe talk for 1-2 minutes with each competency? Is this an issue or is the time not as important as what you say?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,676 ✭✭✭✭Witcher

There's no way you'll talk for 4 mins on anything, they have about 10mins each to interview you and they'll just cut across your answer on many questions once theyve got the gist of it.

I wouldn't get concerned over time, just know your competency and have a few extra as back up. They won't let you sit there and talk for 4 minutes straight, your probably talking for 30 seconds before they ask you something about the answer your giving them

Don't be! Be confident in yourself that you have prepared enough your examples. They want you to pass they are not trying to catch you out. They do want you to be detailed in your example just to confirm it is a true example of yours with a positive outcome.

Had my interview Monday just gone. Does any one know how long before we find out if we failed or passed? I forgot to ask.

  • Registered Users Posts: 76 ✭✭Smallboy

I asked in mine and they said *hopefully* next week. I'm also hopeful it's this week cause I can't imagine PAS work over the Christmas week so it will probably be next 2 weeks if not this coming week.

Good question, not sure how it works at all myself. Like I came in 300s , but if they taking in 600 this year in total and there are a lot from the previous campaign does it mean we gonna be sitting around waiting for a couple of years .... makes no sense to me why they keep recruiting if so many people are waiting still.

Anyhow sure there is a reason and someone here will explain !!
