Bit of an unknown quantity week 1 with the Browns. They could easily have won week 1 last year and the Steelers are light in depth on WR, TE and linebackers...and everything hinges at QB on Ben's knees and ankles staying healthy.

Equally the Browns could be 1-5 after six weeks with tough fixtures.

I think the Browns will win.

Although the Steelers OL will be amped to ensure Conner has a good game after all the Bell stuff.

There are far too many people predicting a Browns win. Feels weird.

They're still coached by Hue Jackson, so its going to be a solid no from me!!

Like I was saying, EVERY team has reason to feel optimistic week 1! I'm sure normal service will be resumed soon.

It is fun - everyone can be excited until the first results come in - then depression will set in for some people.

If the Seahawks beat the Broncos I would be surprised to see goofy still in a job by week 4.

Big turnover of players - it could take a couple of weeks for them to get used to playing with one another.

I do think the Browns are going in the right direction - and Cleveland deserves to have a winning team.

Will this actually kick off at 1:20 this morning or is that when the ring presentation begins? Thinking of staying up for first half

Kick off will be around 1:20 - 1:30 going by previous years.

The league is targeting a 1:55am kickoff now.

Don't care, 5 minutes from seeing that SuperBowl Banner being uncovered. Pretty happy with that and then a game after, noice!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,424 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

    Good Jesus.

Falcons continue to be horrendous in the redzone. Nothing changes.

Goal-line stand by the Eagles against a team that had huge issues getting the ball in the endzone when in the Redzone last year....still good stand by the Eagles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,397 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Julio is a beast on the first drive and they take him out of the game in the redzone. Why....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,159 ✭✭✭mrkiscool2

Eagles look rusty but the Falcons defence are a huge step up from the first test we had last year vs the Redskins

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,927 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

Eagles are, to be charitable about it, looking very rusty on offense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,927 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

    Haha snap

So this is the regular season version Nick Foles..sloppy stuff so far

Looking at this series? Not looking too shabby right now to be honest. Has been safe and controlled too. I'm all for calling the Eagles offense rusty, the run hasn't been amazing so far. But Foles has not been sloppy

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 828 ✭✭✭JaMarcus

    Pretty attrocious half of football.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,156 ✭✭✭✭Foxtrol

I know I should be just happy that football is back but that was a tough half to watch. 16 penalties to 9 points.

Raise their Super Bowl banner before the game and then Eagles fans boo at the end of the first quarter and then at half time despite only being behind by 3 at each... never change.

  • Registered Users Posts: 394 ✭✭rebelyell99

It will surely get better second half,I fancy the falcons there offense doesnt look as rusty.

I agree. I'm frustrated with the Eagles offence (think both defences are being undermined here, both have been very, very good) but I wouldn't boo the team for being down 3 and having one good series at the start of the second quarter.

Bad half of attacking football, good for defensive nerds though!

We still don't know what a catch is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,397 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Refs don't have the balls to overturn any calls on the field now. How that wasn't a catch is beyond me. 52 yards lost and a possession over because of them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,159 ✭✭✭mrkiscool2

At first it looked like the correct call and seeing it after the break I thought it was too but then looked again and Jones had possession was inbounds. Foles should have been picked off twice in the first series of this half too, we are quite lucky.

  • Registered Users Posts: 394 ✭✭rebelyell99

    Philly special 2.0!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,159 ✭✭✭mrkiscool2

Foles greatest receiver in history! 2-2, 16 yards :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,397 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

If I had to choose between Foles or Josh Bellamy to play WR I'd pick Foles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,159 ✭✭✭mrkiscool2

In hindsight, that could be an amazing play call with Philly Special 2.0. Got the crowd up, players seemed more up after and now a TD. Could be a turn around

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 828 ✭✭✭JaMarcus

Falcons killing themselves. 13 penalties for 110 yards.

    Ryan has been poor.

Ryan has been poor and then we go and do that. Absolutely silly, silly behaviour. Happened to us against them last time too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 828 ✭✭✭JaMarcus

Falcons offensive line has been garbage.

Eagles defence has been really, really good (with the exception of sloppy penalties but it's a free for all out there in that regard) but Falcons haven't covered themselves in glory on offence.

More of the same from Sark. No imagination whatsoever.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 828 ✭✭✭JaMarcus

Matt Ryan is utter trash tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,159 ✭✭✭mrkiscool2

Garbage throw. I am delighted, the commentators and crowd knew from the moment he threw it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 394 ✭✭rebelyell99

Pick,Ryan trying to force everything to Julio, its too predictable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,159 ✭✭✭mrkiscool2

And then we get picked. It was just a damn good hit to be fair. Foles threw it right to Godard.

    And TD. Mental.

15 penalties now for Atlanta. Inexcusable. Such poor discipline, I'd be disgusted if I was a fan. Eagles only need about 20 yards, less even, to set up a game winning FG.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,159 ✭✭✭mrkiscool2

Ajayi is a beast. Serious RB unit this year with Sproles also healthy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 828 ✭✭✭JaMarcus

One of the worst performances of Matt Ryan's career.

Took 2 costly sacks at the end, had plenty of time to get rid of the ball - even out of bounds would have been better.

And then 5 attempts at the end, and not one catchable ball.

Falcons had all off-season to work on red zone offense, and THATS what they come up with? It was worse than last season. Absolutely pathetic.

I'm angry and I don't even support them!

Clement made some good plays too. That's a serious RB unit by committee.
