    Hi,

We have just bought a 100+ year old house and have plans to do some renovations, mainly internal.

I have been trying to see if there are any reliefs or incentives/grants available to us for the purchase of the house or planned renovations from revenue etc..

We don't seem to qualify for any listed on revenues site.

Would anyone with more knowledge be able to point me towards any if I am missing them, or maybe there just are none.

    thanks

You can apply for grants when updating the heating or insulation of your home.
Also I think there's still the home renovation incentive in place where you can apply for a tax back when you got work done by a qualified tradesman and paid more than 5k.

Possibly s.482 relief, depending on house

SEAI - Insulation, Boiler, Controls, Solar Thermal, Solar PV. air to Water....
    Warmer Homes Scheme
    HRI
    DEAP Retrofit Scheme

Is the house a Protected Structure?

Could the "Living City Initiative" apply?

Deep retrofit would be the way to go for heat and comfort. If you can get it

If the property was of some historical or architectural value there is a scheme where you can avail of tax reliefs although you then have to give the public access on a number of days per year.
O Reilly the former Minister of Health benefitted from this scheme

Thanks very much everyone for your replies.

    s.482 - we don't qualify
Warmer Homes Scheme - we don't qualify
Living City Initiative - not in a qualifying city
No historical value or protection. possibly a good thing.

SEAI - Should be able to avail of some of these, although house faces wrong direction for solar, no under floor for heat pumps although apparently some rads work well with it and External insulation might be out due to cost. Will focus on internal and drafts.
HRI - Looks like it will suit although probably not worth much after grants.
DEAP Retrofit Scheme - this is interesting, going to research more.

    all very helpful

    thank you

Anybody know will the HRI scheme be extended for another while or will it definitely end for good this december, personally it should be left in place till most houses are up to a certain spec

Did you have any progress with this one. I'm looking into it but finding it hard to get an estimate what difference in cost would be between a general renovation or a deep retrofit (minus 50%).

The Deep retrofit grant don't seem to be taking applications from individual houseowners currently. They are focusing on group schemes.

Yeas you have to come together with a group of houses. It’s a pilot scheme so they are looking for group data etc

There is a list on SEAI website of service providers who look after all the paperwork and forming groups of 5 (or more) houses.
The feedback that I am getting so far is that it'll cost more than an average renovation (e.g. BER of B3) even after the 50% grant is refunded.
I'd love to hear from somebody who has used the scheme.

actually just been looking in detail the last few days

depending on size and current condition, finger in the air prices seem to be 60k for an average house.
    So 30k + 30k grant
something like, external insulation, triple glazing, insulated floors, wall and roof insulation upgrade, a2w heat pump and associated upgrades, solar pv

we got an indicative price of 100k which is way over our budget but he's gonna call and have a better look.

The contractor we spoke with was very helpful and said they have a good few houses on the go and so can group them together themselves.

Also they work with kingspan who front 50% to save the client having to.

booooonzo, how are you getting on with your contractor? Did you have to pay anything for the onsite visit or detailed costings? Also did you have to have a BER and air tightness test completed prior to them calling out?
