Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That Welsh side consists by and large of Championship players, with a novice manager too, and they looked very comfortable.

    Last night's squad:

    Crystal Palace
    Leicester City
    Barnsley
    Reading
    Stoke
    Spurs
    Aston Villa
    Swansea
    Bristol
    Brentford
    Swansea
    Newcastle
    Derby
    Arsenal
    Leicester
    Stoke
    Bournemouth
    Chelsea
    Twente
    Real Madrid
    Burnley
    Derby
    Sheffield Utd
    Derby
    Leeds

    1 La Liga, 1 Eredivise, 9 Premiership, 12 Championship. 2 League One
One World Class player, which makes such a difference in International Football and top level contributors throughout the starting XI.

    By contrast, Irish squad:

    Middlesborough
    Hearts
    Kristiansund
    Burnley
    Everton
    Newcastle
    Brighton
    Fulham
    Derby
    Burnley
    Wolves
    Sheffield Utd
    Sheffield Utd
    Burnley
    Reading
    Bristol
    Aston Villa
    Brentford
    Hibs
    Preston
    Millwall
    Ipswich
    Preston
    Millwall
    Preston

    8 Premiership, 14 Championship. 2 Scotland, 1 Norway

No World Class players. 7 of 8 Premiership players defenders and the other a workmanlike midfielder.

They looked comfortable because they're much more talented than we are.

We don't have the talent AND the management is shít.

It's not one or the other. It's both.

My opinion remains the same as after the Denmark game

Replacing MON is only placing a band aid on the bigger issues. If we continue to produce technically poor players, we're always going to struggle.

There are fundamental problems with the way we run football in this country and until they are addressed, there's only so much a manager can do.

Unfortunately it's hard to see anyone in a position to make a difference actually doing anything.

I was on board the O'Neill/Keane appointment at the time and in general I think he has done ok results wise up to the Denmark nightmare game. However, it really does feel like the time is right for him to move on. The whole thing needs freshening up. Hard to know who should come in though. List of replacements bandied about isn't very inspiring.

Change "ok" to "good" results wise and I'd agree with all of the above.

I think whoever comes in will be in for an extremely rough ride however. The expectations of large sections of the fanbase seems to be completely misaligned with reality. There's a belief (as there has been since 2008) that it's only a case of selecting the right flavour of the month players and asking them to pass the ball to each other and the promised land shall come. This is of course stoked by the media at every opportunity. It has been nonsense for much of the last decade of course but particularly now with our playing pool so weak.

Any genuinely talented manager would do well to steer well clear, leaving a shortlist of chancers, has beens and never will be's. It might be a good thing though however to clear the air of all of the toxicity. Let people see a manager who has never achieved anything playing all the flavour of the months while trying to knock it about. Take the inevitable scolding that comes with that, hopefully don't slip further than a fourth seed and reboot in two year's time with a better aligned understanding of what it takes to win as an Irish fan.

Or we'll see that Premiership and Championship players are actually capable of making five yard passes within a structured game plan.

Where would that leave you and the rest of the Trap/O'Neill apologists??

MON seemed to say ''Well played''

Giggs then seems to look around for Roy Keane but Roy is nowhere to be seen

Doesn't seem to take much to really confuse Giggs.

The players are capable of a hell of a lot better than we have seen over the last 18 months or so. I believe 100 per cent that MON has lost the dressing room. I mean we played 3 full backs last night. Christie , coleman and Ward. Mad stuff. Doherty left on the bench at the start, does MON even know he has been good in the PL on the right wing. No Cunningham in the squad
Crazy stuff. No sign of MON trying to bring through players for the future. Walters leading the line at 34 speaks volumes. Robinson or burke should have been selected there. Jeff hendricks looks a good player playing for Burnley in the PL. How come he looks so bad in the green?

Look at the players we have potentially lost and lost during his reign and on his watch, rice, arters and grealish. Was or is he proactive enough? He doesnt appear to be.

RK has a track record of leaving clubs in the **** and ive a feeling he is at fault for Arters.

The damage that is being done now in a toxic environment will take time to repair.

MON will say other wise but he has lost the hunger for the game. He has nothing to lose at this stage as he has made his money. We need someone in with something at stake. Someone with energy amd hunger. Oh and a manager that practices game plans amd tactics.

No shows for games at the Aviva is the only real solution. Hit them in the pocket. For too long we've been paying Premiership level ticket prices to watch Championship fare, now we're heading into League 1 level stuff. An overhaul of the FAI is required - they're still dining out on the 'glory years'.

Everyone on here bleating on about Delaney etc - yet people will still turn up in their droves, with their kids, to the Aviva and pay top dollar to line his pockets. Get used to the decline in Irish football over the next decade or so until he decides to fook off into the sunset.

Presume he was in the tunnel, preparing to row with a player.

That isn't the reason people go to an international football match............and you know that. Just a warped pointless attempt at virtue signalling on this issue.

You can still support your team and hate the administration behind the organisation. You shouldn't, as a fan be made guilty, hypocritical, or talked down to for having that conflicting approach to both of these

What next, you complain about players for turning up and representing a team ran by the FAI.

People are still going to attend matches regardless of internet outrage but same fans shouldn't be labelled hypocrites.

They're not hypocrites because most don't give a single **** about the state of the game here and will be on the boat over to Anfield the next week.

"I'll see you in the tunnel" ;)

And then it suddenly dawns on Giggs as he stares petrified of his fate, looking for alternative ways out of the stadium

Your money goes to the UK economy & developing players in the English system

True, but most of the best Irish hopes for the future are part of that system (until they don't make it and come back to LoI)

I don't like the Welsh fans at all. They think their team is better than they really are and are above their station. A mongrel shower.
