Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

lottery fraud ? How does that work ?

I'm assuming that they checked his ticket at the time he won and verified to ensure it was the winning ticket. Also can't the lottery people tell us if anyone has won or not soon after a draw ?

they don't seem to be publicising how he did it I guess for fear of giving people ideas. Camelot were fined £3M by a Regulator for paying out, the head of Camelot phoned him personally at the time. I think there were some lax rules around collecting on a damaged ticket, that aren't around any more.

Only way I can see that a fraud might work is if one of the genuine winners did not come forward, then you forge the winning ticket. Camelot will know how many winning tickets are sold, so you cant fudge this number. The location of sale might be an issue. But this is generally known too (advertised even) if the winner does not come forward, and time is running out. Then 'presto', you turn up at last minute with a damaged ticket that had been under the dog for the last couple of months ... wink wink !!

With a couple of million you can get a very good lawyer to make sure you keep it. They say the first million is the hardest!

Why is he being charged now, when there is no ticket? Maybe he got lax and let it slip.

The pirates say that 3 men can keep a secret if 2 are dead.....

Details about the fine here. It was recent enough, December 2016.
