Sports Business - use of GoFundMe

    Hi,

I work for a outdoor sport activity company, and, in addition to our regular commercial activities with general public, we are looking to run a program over the winter for local disadvantaged youths. So we can offer this at a reduced, or zero, cost to local youth organisations we are considering ways to raise finance to cover our costs.

We are looking at all activities, such as local business sponsorship, youth clubs running their own fundraising activities etc.

One option we have recently been discussing is to use a platform like GoFundMe to raise money.

I imagine, if we do that, there needs to be some sort of governance so we can demonstrate that the money raised is spent only on the program itself and does not, and is seen not to, filter into the regular business income.

Can anyone advise whether this is feasible, what are the pitfalls and what else we should consider if we want to go ahead?
