Not a great slate of games really, although Panthers/Falcons and Vikings/Packers will both be entertaining. I'm tipping a lot of away teams to win this week for some reason.

I think it is a very interesting slate of games this week. There are three brilliant looking divisional clashes among playoff contenders. Ravens-Bengals, Vikings-Packers and Panthers-Falcons.

Then we have two massive AFC heavyweight clashes between Chiefs & Steelers, as well as Patriots & Jags.

In fact most of the other games have some intrigue. The games in Chicago and Dallas will tell us a lot about who might be in the playoff hunt in the NFC. I am very interested to see who emerges from the Dolphins Jets game with a 100% record.

This is a great time of year.

Surprised at the amount of people siding with the Bengals over the Ravens this week. I know typically we struggle against them, but I think we'll take care of them no problem this week.

Ravens, chargers, texans treble for me this week.

This one is a make or break for Goofy in Denver - lose to the bad team that is Gruden's Raiders and it is a repeat of last season and Goofy out the door by the bye-week - win and maybe, just maybe, he is beginning to show that the has learned from last season and might actually make a decent HC. This is the type of game that the Broncos could blow-out the Raiders or just as easily lose.

The Broncos defence is going to get better as the season goes on - this unit might be as special as the 2015 SB defence.

Thoughts on how Butt is going? I was hoping the Pats would snake him in the draft, interested to see his development this year.

Funny how a few easy games can make such a difference at the start of the season when it comes to how teams and coaches are viewed, especially when their opponents have been good or even solid in previous years.

Thoughts on how Butt is going? I was hoping the Pats would snake him in the draft, interested to see his development this year.

He has some way to go yet - against the Seahawks he was in on 49% of snaps. He had 2 receptions for 29 yards - and even played full-back on a number plays.

The Broncos are taking him along slowly. The expectation was that Butt would become the starting TE for Denver before training camp - Jeff Heuerman was drafted in 2015 - suffered an ACL in his first training camp - in last years training camp he suffered a hamstring injury and struggled with injuries and inconsistency throughout that season and the following season. Most Broncos fans expected Elway to cut Heuerman and roll with Butt - but Heuerman has actually shown up to play this season - he was in on 85% of snaps and was effective in pass pro and also in run blocking.

The Broncos offence has seen a major change in terms of weapons available - from having practically nothing last year they now have Thomas, Sanders (who could have a record breaking year), Sutton, Hamilton and even Patrick who are impressing at WR - Heuerman and Butt at TE - Royce Freeman as the workhorse at RB and Phillip Lindsay who is flashing brilliance out of the backfield. I suspect that Butt will be used sparingly - given time to adjust to the NFL and will become a more important part of the offence as the season progresses. Goofy has no excuses for not producing on offence this season and Bill Musgrave seems to have put together a package to take advantage of all these weapons after the disaster of Mike McCoy last year.

Vance Joseph looked like a deer in headlights all last season - he looked inept and completely out of his depth. He kept saying 'I have to coach the coaches better' and when asked how he was going to do that he could never answer.

For the past couple of weeks it looks like the light has finally come on for Joseph - but the vast majority of Broncos fans remain to be convinced. Three of the first four games are in Denver (the same as last season) and Broncos fans remember that in his first four games last season the Broncos were 3-1 (including handing out a major spanking to the Cowboys) before the wheels came off.

The Raiders are a shambles and losing to them this week will raise serious questions about whether Goofy is goofy or can actually be a HC.

You cite the Cowboys, but they ended up being poor last year so that win isnt really something to applaud. The Seahawks are likely an example of a team that will be similarly poor this year but you talk of corner turning. I’d stay unconvinced until they actually prove themselves against good teams rather than not losing against likely crap teams.

Ravens should really be up for tonight after week 17 last season.

Hopefully the defense will have enough but I reckon it’ll be a very tight game and it’s hard to call, possibly a field goal in it.

Tucker could prove to be the difference.

I'm slightly worried the fact that I seem to be lone wolfing the browns in week 2. I picked them because the saints shipped 48 points against a team nobody expected then to lose to.

I could see them winning this week, I think most of us are working on the very sound principle that nobody ever went broke betting against the Browns.

I think you need to re-read my comments - I am most definitely NOT convinced that Joseph has the makings of a HC or that the Broncos are going to blow everyone away this season.

Last year the defeat of the Cowboys was the story of week 2 (at least I think it was week 2) because of their previous season - and VJ was on a high before the wheels came off.

The Seahawks are not a good team - the defence has been gutted - and Earl Thomas was their best player despite only turning up a couple of days earlier.

What can be said is that the Broncos have a significantly better squad than last year - Keenum is an upgrade on Siemian - Sutton, Hamilton and Patrick are better than Fowler, Taylor and whatever other donkey was available - the TEs are better - the RBs are better - and the OL looks like it can actually block and can hold up in pass pro. On top of that McCoy's excuse for an offensive scheme has been dumped and Musgrave looks like he knows what he is doing.

On defence Talib is gone - Roby is not as good but he would start on most teams - Pacman was one of the best players on the field last week - Chubb is already being disruptive - Gotsis and Harris are better than last season - Barret was in on four plays agains the Seahawks, had a sack a TFL and two tackles in the four snaps. Parks, Simmons, Davis and Ray have all shown improvement - and there are a couple of decent rookies. The pass-rush looked terrifying at times against the Seahawks. On top of that the STs look a lot better.

Now this all counts for nought unless they can consistently put it on the field - and that primarily comes down to Vance Joseph - there is talent on the roster and he has to get the best out of it. I will reserve judgement until he proves he can coach the team through an entire season - but if the wheels do start to come off then expect his sacking to occur sooner rather than later. The Broncos have not had two consecutive losing seasons since 1972 - and Elway has Goofy on a very short leash.
